Dopers suck

hahahaha

Lance definitely, but Vino coming back to win the Olympic gold burns me more than Floyd.

I also loved watching Rassmussen hamster wheel himself over the mountains.

Seeing all of them get their come uppance is just something that happened for me. The entertainment at the time was great.

But IMHO if the Olympics wants to keep flying it's 'Olympic Spirit' flag, dopers shouldn't be allowed to go.

I hate the Olympics. It's personal for me as I was involved in a few. hahahaha just mentioning it has boiled my blood!

The Chicken time trialing was my favourite 🙂 He focussed a little too much on the weight side of power to weight ratio. Asthmatic hamster best described his TTing....

Vino - what a hustler - bargains/buys his way into wins and now runs a dodgy pro cycling team. Crime does indeed pay! Extremely very well if you're a cyclist (I'm talking to you George Hincapie - bust AFTER you retired and built a clothing empire based on being a very good doper). Laughable.

All the money he made and is making is based on being a doper. Not good enough in my book.

Better than nothing but he can never make up for what he did - at best he can limit some of the damage but I don't feel he should get an ounce of praise.

As long as we support dopers post doping - doping will continue.

Same as all the other dopers going back years with many of them still involved in cycling. Or do we just exclude the bad dopers from the Anquetil - Armstrong era riders?

I'm not praising Landis or Lance but don't understand why they must be singled out with some many others getting a free ride.

On the plus side I turned around - are you still in the "I don't think he came out of it with much $$$." camp when he received $1.1m in addition to the the $1,65m lawyers fees?

Indeed, and on the plus side Floyd also turned around.

                                          and

to answer the money question, I maintain that I don't think he did all this for the money.

I don't think I could convince you that Floyd is maybe just a decent human who made some terrible mistakes and has owned up to it. I might be able to convince you that he's got a fairly wicked sense of humour though!

They are the apex dopers so they will always cop more flak.

Okes that dope, get bust, take the hit and enjoy the ban cop a little less flak.

No such thing as a good doper though....

That was a quick turnaround!

I respect the way Landis has owned up to his past. I believe (maybe wrongly) that he was the chief instigator behind the Armstrong lie falling, he was the one that got Tygart onto the case with a smoking gun affidavit.

I also don't think he is that motivated by money, reports are that he didn't make the windfall you think he did.

I totally respect that he has people that will never forgive him, it looks like he's ok with that.

Everything I've read agrees with this. The best of which is a book called Wheelmen. This is an except from the book. Long but worth a read:

https://www.cyclingnews.com/news/wheelmen-book-excerpt-what-to-do-about-lance-armstrong-part-2/

I quite like landis to be honest. Interviews with him these days are always candid, funny and remarkably insightful for a man who bears a passing resemblance to kid rock.

Whether he is a decent person or not has no bearing on this debate.

I'm sure most of us would enjoy a beer with any of the dopers - they have a million war stories from a sport we enjoy.

That doesn't change the fact that they benefited (and continue to benefit greatly) from doping, lying, cheating and stealing. Landis' net worth is $3m, Lance is at $50m, Hincapie at $40m - gained the same way as Zuma and the Guptas.

Lance gets a bonus point for saving cycling after Festina. Floyd will feel robbed after only making $3m. At some point he was going to make $100m.

So, ban Russia from the Olymics for running a coordinated PED scheme for athletes across the board..... Then invite them to the Olympics under the OC flag.

This was only ever going to end one way.

Why ban them in the first place? Why re-invite them?

The Olympics is such a farce. How can a doper be allowed to compete? Vinokourov coming back to win gold in 2012 grates me.

Surely if you are caught doping you get banned from the olympics for life? Or is the Olympic Spirit flag only relevant when it involves people who suck and get slow clapped because they need the smaller nations to buy in and send athletes with absolutely no chance of winning?

The Olympics should just die. It's ethics are so skewed, both in who is competing, how it is run/set up and who earns all the money.

FIFA and the IOC are filthy. They make the Guptas and our government look like small change chumps

At least the IOC and FIFA don't ruin entire nations and their economies.
