WTF CSA?

Conditions of their license stipulates they may only participate in CSA sanctioned events. They signed that they understood the terms and conditions so by riding K2C they broke the terms and conditions they agreed to. Rule broken fined and suspended.

Play by one rule break another doesn’t make one more right or wrong than the other.

Don't agree, it's an arbitarily applied rule without engagement or choice. Which highlights the shortcomings in CSA and the administration.

There are grounds to exercise discretion, past and present.

I guess CSA is not on board on the DieselnDust - "it's just a fun ride not a race" - ticket.

 

But for the rest I agree with D&D - CSA has warned a few times that they might do this, no point in having the rule if they don't enforce it. Also possible that UCI might be on their case if they don't enforce the rules, I imagine this is a UCI rule as well.

Yup but I can't think why it would be in place other than some kind of protectionism.

 

Hmmmm maybe it's designed to allow non pro riders a space to showcase their talents. That would make sense to me.

He is still banned until March 2019, unless they extend the ban with a month.

 

Technically they cant fine him.  He does not hold a full CSA license, that would have been revoked in 2015 when serving him the ban.  

 

If a banned athlete gets permission from the organizers to ride/race in a non-sanctioned  event, that decision lies with the organizers and there is not much CSA can do about that.

Kind of ironic if there are repercussions for licensed athletes but not for already suspended athletes, I would think it is a further violation but I imagine the rules would not go into that much detail.

I know some licensed riders that got a warning when they did the Juma race .

But you and me are not licensed riders? Can get messy for licensed riders and I would imagine that at least some organisers would not want their entrants to get into trouble

In $ start for CTCT, you require to be licensed apparently... not that CSA does anything about it or checking if in fact licensed. 

 

In all honesty, as an SA pro you dont make money from the podium, you make money by just being at the event etc... If you dont get a time etc because of CSA no worries. In fact, CSA 'fining' Nicky above has brought her more exposure than winning the race itself.
