I have never braaied game. What do you recommend I start with that is readily available in terms of a recipe?

When I was younger mom used to make venison pie, either a cream or a beer based one.

Local butcher has game wors so must ask what else he may have.

if you can get sprinbok loin or deboned leg, you can't go too wrong. Don't overcook. Try that marinade i mentioned. Marinate for a day or two, salt, pepper coriander while braaing. I'm going to try nomu Moroccan rub on my next attempt. Edited by Patensie

Probably "rugstring" - same as that I braaied here, i.e. the muscles along the back bone. Don't know the proper English term, that's why I called it loin. :stupid:

Sounds about right... We were treated royally that weekend. Next morning we had a breakfast that made any full English/Irish/south African breakfast look like kids play... I'm talking eggs bacon lamb sausage potatoes pap tomato relish and and and.... With some engelsman from natal trying to make polite conversation

I can't wait to relocate to Canada where I can braai and watch Rugby again. I never quite understood what it is about the Dutch that was a little off until I realized that they are not into rugby!

The good thing about the Netherlands is that it's bicycle friendly. I'm tempted to start a petition on FB to have cycle lanes created, from one neighbouring town to another, in the area where I live.

I wouldn't say bicycle friendly, more like bicycle orientated. You still have to watch out for scooters on the bike lane and in winter it can get icy. Plus on average 900 000 bikes are stolen annually. I would prefer to cycle on the road and have access to the mountains.
