Snakes are wonderful. What do you think our trails will look like without something keeping rodents in check?

Are you trying to derail a fear-fest with facts .... on a FRIDAY .... :P

I have had it with these mother trucking snakes on this mother trucking thread. (With apologies to the inimitable Samuel L Jackson.

What do you expect when trail sections are named Cobra, Mamba, Boomslang, Rinkhals and Snake Eyes and a series of them known as The Snakes

Saw this little guy at Bloemendal this week. Great to see the awareness of riders and effort taken to gently nudge him off to the side !

That's a mole snake. They are not venomous but it will still moer you if you mess with it.

Edit - they are a necessary part of the greater ecosystem. Those berms are often tunneled into by moles so they actually do us great service

Nasty mole hole on a fast section of Bloemendal Homerun today ....

As much as I prefer runners on their own trails, and snakes in the bushes ....

Snakes most certainly are a vital part of the ecosystem ....

Badly mangled remnants of a snake on Bottelary this morning.

Another enroute to Klipheuwel ....

Lots of sticks and ropes ... each one getting the spidey senses going until the all clear ... 😉
