Hi. My name is Robbie, and it's been 20 minutes since my last chocolate...

This morning, the scale shouted GET OFF, FATTY !!! at me, and just to make things worse, it displayed a well rounded 120 kg as an added insult.

I feel defeated.

I was having a good month training despite having to miss some days as im painting my house . Then with a 6 days to go and i only needed to do another 200 km to do my 1000km per month goal the dreaded Lurgy struck " The Common  cold " , I stopped training immediately but carried on eating my normal calorie  intake  but not  burning it off daily . I was surprised when i got on the scale and had gone down to 82.8 Kg .

How big is your house man?! It feels like you have been painting for months![emoji23]

I only take Tuesday and Wednesday off work to paint . Outside walls , gutters , down pipes , facia boards , window sills , gates and perimeter fencing needs preparation , primer paint and then final coat . A slow process but thoroughly done so i dont have to do it for another 10 years .

I added my name this morning.

Had pneumonia twice over the last 2 months due to this stupid flu going around.

Snoring is my first sign if I pass 96 kg. Snored so bad, my wife slept in the spare room.

Started the year out on 94. And was 97.7 yesterday. Rode 10 km since the CTCT.

I'm back in. Didn't really leave, actually. Will update the spreadsheet with my NYD weight of 99.5kg.

Mini goals:

95kg by March 31st

90kg by June 30th

Will then reassess and see what's potting. May go down to 85 if I'm still not 100% satisfied, but those last 5kg (if I go down to 85) will be difficult.

For now: 9.5kg in 6 months to add to the 12kg over 3 years.

Yep, same here. Destructive June, with school holidays, going out for dinner with friends (visiting dbn at the moment) and lots of booze. Back on the wagon as of today. Got down to 95.8 mid-june, just need to get back there ASAP.

The scale tells lies as we know...even though my weight is around the same at the moment...as someone mentioned...the snoring starts again...the roll gets a little thicker around the pants...the skin starts to hang around the chin...the 508 levis can only button to the second last hole.

when the the wife tells you you need a longer shirt as you are about to leave the house and head to a public place.

All that muscle i have built since 2016 ...must be turning to fat...i cant keep up with our B group anymore...in fact i am back to riding in the jets group (the social group) when i actually make the effort to join the group ride.

it just seems such a waste...my arms have healed...then a 50x50 x 5 mm thick steel bracket slips and whacks my on the elbow...no i didnt cry because there was someone on the ladder next to me.

yeah, I missed my 1st quarter goal by 2 1/2 months and my midyear goal by a long shot. Am I giving up, though? Heck no. When you're addicted to food (yes, it was my escape during the latter years of my marriage) and have  mild depression, it's a bit difficult to have a sustained downward trend without any hiccups along the way. This was a hiccup. I'll have more in the future, that's for sure.

Not the biggest loss this month, and there have been quite a few ups and downs. Busy life sometimes makes keeping on track difficult, but I am learning to balance what sometimes feels like a slightly chaotic life.

Overall the scale is moving in the right direction, and more importantly, I am getting better at incorporating good habits into a busy life.

I had a much more relaxed approach this month with my meal portions compared to the previous month because I got a last minute Trans Baviaans entry and had to start training a lot more! Started to feel a bit depleted with only the smaller portions. Still tried to keep the food clean and not junk food. Also been fueling a bit more during the 120-150km rides to get nutrition sorted for Trans Baviaans. I found that my body responds waaayyy better to actual food like bananas, biltong, droewors and nuts on these long rides instead of energy bars, gels and coke. Weight kept constant at 87kg this month. Will see after Trans Baviaans if I can reduce portion size again and drop another few kgs before Karoo2Coast. Only 1.9kg to go to hit 40kg dropped in total..
