Nice topic to get it going again. Has it been the lack of events?

All I know is that after going back and forth between the new and old air spring, I've found a great pressure and I haven't touched the thing since George Enduro last year. Probably due for a service soon. No Idea what that is though since my shockpump's dial is whack.

I was just getting beat up badly on long rocky (Armageddon style) descends, and dropped the pressure by around 5 PSI. It sags slightly more now in the garage sag test, but once on the trail, I find it way more comfortable with better traction and the slow speed compression actually doing its thing

Wow its quiet around here... Anyone else found that RS forks overstate the air pressure to rider weight? I'm in at least the 85kg range but I find the recommended pressure way to high. I'm currently around 55psi in my Yari with no tokens!

Sounds to me like you need to give up on RS, throw some money at the problem and go full BBRRUUNNNIII with a Ohlins fork!

Actually no, I love my Pike wif Charger and my Yari with motion control - the latter has been totally reliable and always gets great reviews. Sure the damper could be a little better - I get a bit of dive under braking, but for the most part I can't fault it.

I have just tossed the Guides off my Enduro and replaced them with 785 XT's. Next is a new Shimano 203 rotor up front and the old 200 rotor at the back. So happy to be off those awful DOT fluid brakes.

I forked out for an Assegai for the front wheel of my Enduro.  about a month back. Its an exo plus 2.6 and so far its been great. The difference in grip between it and the Aggressor is noticeable, but not in a smack you in the face kind of way, compared to say when I went from a worn out DHR 2 to a Magic Mary a few years back. Its as if you don't notice the tyre because it just does its thing. The most striking thing has actually been how fast it rolls. I was expecting a noticeable increase in resistance but so far its been the opposite. I even got a pb up the long jeep track at Tokai. Weird. I'm still getting used to the increased grip and slowly increasing my cornering speed on the downs.

The Ass-Guy on the front is a great trail / AM tyre

My enduro was out of action for a bit while Stoke waited for a service kit and then came to grips with the idiosyncrasies of the Ohlins STX22. Such a lekker  shock with a serious design flaw. I am hoping it holds air a bit better than it did before.

Put a 2.4 Trail Boss WTB on the back of my bike. It looks a but puny next to the Assegai but it has the Tough casing which is thick and heavy and I am loving it. Rolls suitably fast and handles the bigger hits and rocks without feeling as if its going to get a hole in it. I can also run it at a bit lower pressure. As its designed to roll fast its not hugely grippy under braking but corners very well. Probably the ideal back tyre in dry SA conditions but not so great for mud or very loose terrain.

Do any of you run tyre inserts for your Enduro rigs?

Nope I just run tyres with better sidewalls. I.e. Schwalbe's Super Gravity or Specialised Grid Gravity on the rear. Lighter than krappier sidewall plus insert.

I have experienced the same on my Pike Ult
Any advise on the dark arts of setting the LSC and HSC
I get it right every now and then but mostly not lol I see now this was posted in March (still relevant to me though)

Yup, Cushcore. Used to run it front and back with lighter casings (EXO /EXO+). Running DH casing tyres now, kept the Cushcore in the back.

I like running low pressures in tyres, but I hate rim pings. This system seems to work for me.

It weighs an absolute F-tonne, but I haven't destroyed a rim since I started using Cushcore.

Since always being on maxxis dhf dhr assegai disector agressor ardent rekon forekaster

I thought I would try a left field tyre, not commonly seen on our trails but very close tread pattern to dhr,  i purchased panaracer  romero 29x2.4 triple compound, ST -super tough casing etc. It's on the rear,  not the fastest but the tyres does absorb , damps the rides abit so helps on the hardtail.

Grips well, but haven't really put it thru some heavy sessions or in full dry out trails as yet.

Been in tokai , cobra and dh lines but all on damp trails.

Will see how holds out in the summer days

Was looking at cushcore, but hard to find locally. Running DHF2 front and rear, and so far so good, no punctures or rim dings yet. Not too fussed with the weight, but was also thinking along the lines of getting a faster rolling rear tyre with cushcore, and then keeping the dhf on the front.

Which casing DHR, that's the NB bit. EXO/EXO+ for the rear can eat a bag of dicks. I can kill them on a mistake easy at 30PSI, never mind the fact I feel the tread pattern has no straight line braking traction.

Conversely I can run a Schwalbe SG casing on the rear at 24PSI on TM, Tokai, Jonkers and not ping a rim even under mistakes :S

And no inserts needed either :) woop woop.

We need to talk far more about casing in addition to tread pattern when it comes to tyres and you'll quickly find Maxxiss is not necessarily the best for your riding preference.
