I do agree that your description aligns with my own gumtree/olx experiences. I would hazard a guess that the onus falls on the bikehub users/community members to mould it how they want it, rather how they receive it. Bikehub is after all a community platform with selling features and not a selling platform!That is all easier said than done - if it isn't against the rules (it may be), a thread with usernames to avoid that lowball or aren't courteous... Just realised I described what the rating system was designed for. Just a shame almost no one uses it. My mate is a Heavy Lift Rigger working in Sabetta in Russia on a Gas Line project. He wanted to buy a Bike which was advertised on FB - Full Suspension Scott - for R50k I think so when he comes out on Rotation he has a bike here - all perfectly legit and he can definitely afford it. He says the guy was not keen to even let me go and look at it for him Apparently now its also "sold"....... Then kept messaging me that he is still looking at other bikes; "before making me an offer" and so it was with great pleasure that I could reply: sorry, since you've been taking your sweet time, the bike has been sold and you missed out on a bargain. Good luck finding a bike in your "budget" especially with your tyre-kicking manner. By the time i get to reading PM's the item is usually sold/on hold already, and courteously have to type that they were a bit late to the party. I do always try to have the bests pics possible from my side already on the advert, accompanied by full and honest descriptions, so to eliminate as much uncertainty as possible. has been working fine for me. As more traffic comes through the site, more unsavory bodies will unfortunately be dragged through the net. I personally struggle to deal with buyers. Post an add, then someone texts at 11pm saying 'I'll give you R800'... Not, 'Hi, it's Mike Jones here. Just wondering if the XYZ is still available. I have R800 to give you. Really keen on the item.' or some such. Guys also tend to think it's ok to call at any time. 08:00 till 19:00 or it's just rude if you don't know me.
