Going to take a beady set of eyes at the start chute to spot that Colnago or the Bianchi

I am pretty sure that if someone that wants to beat me to 170th place at the Cycle Tour and is willing to use an e-bike, then that same person has probably been doping etc before, so its no different. If people want to cheat themselves, so be it.

For a cyclist 109km is not even a full bidoen worth of energy, if e bikes allow dads and sons ride together that have never been able to then I think its worth it.

Could be worse, could be riding a single speed in the racing bunches  JJ :P

the opportunity of course is that the e-bikers will pull at the front till their battery runs out (probably somewhere around Cafe Roux)....

then the RACE is on and the motorpacers can pull for coffee and bagels before tackling Chappies on a 22kg road bike

just need to check who's carrying a charger

Maybe a special starting chute with a 900mm wide gate.......if you can't ride through, they hand you a hacksaw.......

Now I'm even more tempted to take my MTB.

You put the wheel through, rotate 90 degree, put handle bar through....

Aren't ebikes capped at a top speed of 25km/h after which the motor cuts out?

And all participants must complete the course on red wine and French loaf (Grape juice for those who are committed to not drinking alcohol)

I had thought of starting a ride your vintage bike in the CTCT thread and then realised it was too much admin - first one home is the loser and buys the drinks, coffee stops compulsary, beer stop optional as long as you can get back without causing havoc

And to be inclusive,  histotically significant non steel welcome (just in case I want to dress up as LA and ride my trek)
