Thanks for the info.  Truly bizarre all around.

Mike is tough as nails and a fighter for sure!

Yeah, he's a tough nut, mentally and physically.

His last CT scan came back clear, he's breathing on his own, on liquid diet now, and started to chat with F and the boys. Very short sentences, but he's cognitive. And F says that when he's annoyed that characteristic lift of the eyebrow is still there.

As far as I know there is absolutely no news or new info around the incident, or what actually transpired on that fateful morning.

For this reason alone every cyclist should invest in a varia rct or other rear mounted camera.  There is a very small chance it may have prevented the incident altogether - but even if not it would provide some info on what happened...

Tragic. Info around it is very scarce.

Glad to report that he is improving by the day, as you might well know.

May we ask what happened?

Nobody really knows what happened. He was on his way to an early meetup for a ride, when other members of the group also still on their way to the meetup point, found him motionless in the middle of the road. Severe head trauma, dislocated shoulder and broken/cracked ribs.

No other vehicles in the vicinity.

That's frightful. Yet another hit and run I imagine. Every strength to the man and those who know him.

That's interesting.
Would like to hear more about what happened there.
The Total garage is quite far down that hill (in the background closer to the sea)

Any news on the cyclist ?

Hope the cyclist is okay.

The marks on the bonnet and smashed glass could indicate the cyclist was travelling in the same line of travel as the car. It's on the left side of the car, with no damage to the bumper/lights. Most likely a hit from behind based on a visible evidence in the photo.

Yesterday was the first time I had concerns on the Llandadnou - Green Point stretch returning from Chappies. ☹

The number of speeding vehicles overtaking while walkers and runners were inevitably pushing cyclists out into the traffic lane was scary.

Be safe out there peeps.

Despite the fact that there is a sign that says pedestrians aren't allowed on that stretch, I don't have a problem with people running along there (I do it to very occasionally). However if you are running two or three abreast forcing riders into the traffic lane, you're a C#*T!

There is space for everyone, runners/cyclists/cars, if everyone would just be lekker!

Agree 100%. It's not often but sometimes runners think it's fun to test cyclists by running 4- 5 abreast. They can see the traffic that is behind. I cannot. I don't move.

The issue I was having wasn't so much the traffic from behind, but when moving into the traffic lane to avoid runners and having an oncoming vehicle suddenly overtaking at high speed at the same time ... 🤬
