Anybody done the "Attakwas Half"?  Any comparison between this and the 56km route at Eselfontein ?

Seems this is open ebikes(the short route).  Also seems to start and end at the same point, making the logistics a lot easier.

Now I have an itch ....

Haven't done the half but that area and terrain are miles apart...

Esel would be a lot more hard work for each KM where as atta half will likely be rolling hills and some forest sections.

Should be a breeze for E-You

Thank you  Babse ..... and the itch keeps getting worse, or is that bettererter ....

PS - I ENJOYED Eselfontein.  Walked that once partly cemented drop section, probably would have ridden it if I was following someone at the time.  Also walked 2 or 3 of the water crossings, those short deep ones.  Most importantly, it was easy enough to enjoy myself without influencing any of the racers.

R2950 2 entries and 2 day license

hahaha

This is lots. No one really inspired me enough to pull me out of retirement with their answers as to why, so coupled with an entry outlay of R1500 I shall sit it out again.

Enjoy Dips and eeryone else lining up. Weirdly my favourite part of the event is that little trip around the dam just before crossing the river and climbing up that short, sharp hill cut into the side of the clay.

That and the climbs up to the KOM.

Have fun, stay hydrated and remember, the only real race strategy to follow is 'Go till you Blow'... Everything else is a lie

does this mean you have two days to finish...

Advice from someone who has dragged a rather lardy and old body over that mountain a handful of times,

Front tyre @1bar, will help to smooth the rocky first half

start slow, keep that pace

if you see someone walking, start walking

reflect on the meaning of life, long for the days you mowed your lawn on Saturdays

halfway is just that but the second half is easier as your body has adjusted to the pain

the very last hill is not that steep and you end on a downhill....

Enjoy every minute of life after you have finished!!!

Bonus tip - Go and ride Tierkop in George a couple of times, that will give you a good idea what to expect.
