This was last week Tuesday up one of our local climbs outside town.

In the past I'd never stop on the way up a climb, but now the past is in the past and I just don't have the steam anymore (yet).cc4a4f2decd07f439aacbe3326ce34d8.jpg

Edit: Skuus Bennie, daar quote ek jou in verkeerde post.

Met up with friends for the weekend in Hartenbos, was planning on a ride to go visit @BSG in Grootbrak, but a "lekker" Friday night kuier saw me having little energy to cycle.

So I opted for the touristy ride to The Point and back.e772d35df475b6ca3524be3d3a271411.jpg834154ec64171fc5e7ef8392141ba2eb.jpgd14ab3f9fae9c322138053aa6c2a0099.jpg2d4f95a320b470b54c5f912f1272c24f.jpg66f97905af3bacc09071219f1ac3c1bd.jpg

Managed to find some time for a ride again yesterday afternoon.

I'm still drawn to climbing as I enjoyed it a lot to suffer up hills in the past, but lugging this extra 15 odd kg's around is making it hard.62eee1d6b559759499d36175eee3cc42.jpg

Keep. On. Going. @BenReaper.

Rode with Oom Thys this morning, a well known guy amongst the mountain bikers in the south for his bluetooth speaker he rides with at quite high volume. Amongst the gems he played this morning I can recall was something about a 'Boere Poppie' and 'Drie Pikkewyne'

Muddy out but not unpleasant at all!

Doha has just opened a new cycling superhighway...it was built next to the newly designed coastal highway which is now 10 lanes (5 x 2) wide! (it used to be double lane and a death trap even for cars never mind cyclists). So when they laid down the new highway, they just sommer built the cyclists their own highway...at the moment its 33km out and runs next to the main highway with its own bridges and underpasses through all the intersections. It's a proper two lane road only for cyclists with full lighting at night, and I must say its an absolute pleasure to ride without fear of your life....cyclists are still a strange thing that not many around here are used to seeing on the road. I believe there are plans to extend to the next town which will make it 60km out...and also link to the new planned cycle lanes around Doha, some of which are already opened.

It's pretty flat as you can imagine with some climbs over intersections and dips through underpasses and its going to be a bitch when the wind Shamal blows cause there's no hiding from it when it comes. It's also lined with saplings and there's lots of planting going on along the sides with water features and grass and stuff.

So its officially called the "Qatar Olympic Cycle Track" and is part of the massive developments taking place here for the World cup soccer in 2022, and actually goes past two of the new stadiums under construction.

Now my new favourite track for a burn after work!!!

Not me but wish it was.

Travelling from Jozi in your luxurious family car to spend the festive season in Cape Town is old news for Pretoria engineer Sven Kleine.

The 48-year-old father of three girls took up the challenge of cycling from Pretoria to Sedgefield last year, not for a cause, but the experience.
