Ebikes started first.  44 riders !!

Even a couple of pros having a BLAST on a fun day out.  Hearing the laughter of a pro echoing through the kloof was fun in itself.

PERFECT venue -

Took a couple of videos at Banhoek .... HOW do you select a few minutes when most of the videos has nice shots ....

This is a single unedited GoPro clip, purely because it has a bit of everything in it.

Which trail is this? Looks like Boschendal side? I'll have to go give it a try, it looks fun.

You must go back and ride Banhoek itself on Bethlehem farm. Super fun flow trail.

Very good time !!

I started in D.

Thanks. C was super fast! I've chilling at home for a few hours and I am still sweating. 😅

It was a nice route and the weather was great. Did you have a good ride?

Jip, thanks.

Went out hard ... after 16km I realised this was not going to last ... dialled back just a bit.

Picked up a nice group, somge G and some F, nice fast pace.

After Malans I was mostly on my own.

3:19 moving time 😊  a personal best.

Will edit the pics as soon as I can get up ... 🤣🤣

Single speeded my way around winelands half race to feel it out. A bit under geared I think but should work better for ctct. Got slaughtered on the fast bits obviously..was spinning out at 40kph. But when your only choice to make it up a rolling hill is to mash it out….you realise how much time you gain on everyone sitting and spinning. Think i annoyed quite a few guys. Even got some kudos along the way😅

You would have loved the lead up to Malanshoogte today

Managed to stay ahead of a nice group until the turn, pushed like crazy to manage that.

After the turn I sat up let them pass.

Just as the road started lifting towards Malans I was caught by the next group, first three had barely passed when they sat up and realised they need to conserve energy .... setting me up for the perfect box .....

I spoke to the two guys in the front and they let me pass .... with me keeping 28km/h the bus hung in there .... gradually slowing down as the incline got steeper, then the eleastic snapped and I was gone up the front.  They hung in long enough that they caught me on the next long downhill.

With the 40 ring I can now hang with them longer ....

One of those 'for real?' times .... spent most of yesterday making changes to my Superfly (fitted a Fox TA fork to replace the crappy Recon that was on there, fitted the TA rear wheel as per my other post)

Then it flippin rains most of the late afternoon and evening so the planned 'test' ride this morning was in jeopardy.

Got up to glorious weather on the Highveld and decided might as well go look see what the paths and jeep tracks look like, turned out a brilliant ride, little mud here and there but no issue!

Gives credence to that old adage - what's it like out? Get dressed, go out and when you come back you'll know what it was like!
