Tim Kotze Posted August 13, 2025 Posted August 13, 2025 Hi all, I have seen it a few times now, first with people selling shoes from TEMU, and now someone selling a derailleur. Everyone has their own opinion on TEMU parts, which is totally okay, I myself bought the EXACT same carbon OSPW from TEMU just a few weeks ago.... I paid R180. What I'm saying is, go ahead and resell TEMU parts, but there really needs to be a CLEAR disclosure that it is a TEMU part. It is just very poor form from sellers trying to profit from, more often than not, low quality products. I hope I'm not the only one who feel this way. babse Posted August 13, 2025 Posted August 13, 2025 There was a 3D chair selling for over R4k the other day. I picked up and tried out a similar model for R900. Ridoculous
Balooba Posted August 14, 2025 Posted August 14, 2025 Marketplace on äcebook is flooded with these Temu/Shein ext. parts. When you challenge the bloke on his sky high prices you get blocked... go figure... HE-WORKS and Tim Kotze 1 1
Guest Mike Dewing Posted August 14, 2025 Posted August 14, 2025 I’ve just got a couple casquete from Temu.. they are really good. Might try a jersey one day.. don’t know about parts though🥵
Harold m Posted August 14, 2025 Posted August 14, 2025 In the past 5 months I bought more then 10k of parts and accessories from Temu. After carefully went through the reviews. 95% of it was legit quality. I don't resell though. Those who sell must state the name of products so one can go to Temu and check if its a product from them. Just my 2 cents
RobynE 🚵♀️ Posted August 14, 2025 Posted August 14, 2025 I don’t think it needs to be disclosed, no more than any other thing from any other place needs its origins disclosed. Alibaba and Ali Express parts have been traded for years without disclosure. Do you buy something from LBS or a local online store and ask them to show you their supplier invoice for it? If you see something and you think it’s from Temu it’s your choice to buy it or not 🤷♀️ At the end of the day any transaction is “Buyer beware”. Brighter-Lights, Mamil, W Smith and 11 others 14
RobynE 🚵♀️ Posted August 14, 2025 Posted August 14, 2025 And just to be clear - it’s not like the seller is trying to offload a counterfeit part. It is what the ad says it is. Not like it’s a fake/counterfeit/pirate Csixx or KCNC or SRAM etc. W Smith and Mamil 2
Harold m Posted August 14, 2025 Posted August 14, 2025 What's wrong with the site.... Can't search anything..

The prevalence of fake parts on Aliexpress and similar platforms is higher than ever, and the values are getting higher and higher - xx1 cassettes and chains and lightweight cranksets, knock off handlebars. I saw a seller upload 3 “brand new” cassettes the other day that looked suspicious. if you know what to look for you can avoid it, and if you buy through Bikehub pay and can get the item inspected by a professional, but I think a lot of people are going to be caught out. Nothing wrong with reselling a TEMU product, but just give the buyer the heads up, some common decency. Something like "This is the *product name* from TEMU. I am super confident it is proper quality, but just know it is from TEMU" Purely because TEMU parts have the POTENTIAL of being low quality Scott roy and MBMtbGirl 2

Agreed, but in this instance the part is Cyclami and not being sold as a big name part. The same Cyclami mini pump at Solomon’s for I think R1500 is R350 on Temu. They sell a Cyclami light for R499 that is like R180 on Temu. Not everyone wants to go through the Temu/import process and some people want the thing NOW, so if it works for them, they can have at it IMO. While there are occasionally bargains to be had on big name brands on the Hub, anyone paying 50% of the retail price for a “brand new” big name part should be suspicious. Some things are really too good to be true. I’d rather see misleading advertisers be taken down - like things being “Used - Good” and when you receive them they’re just about scrap (ie I received non-functional items - a fork that had been spray pained over the uppers, lowers, adjusters, and a watch that died immediately when it got wet the same day I bought it). In both cases the sellers shrugged it off. School fees for me. So now I have to subject sellers to the Spanish Inquisition for me to believe that what they’re selling is accurately advertised. And likewise I will put myself through the same inquisition for anything I’m selling. And actually just the way people describe things in general. “Plenty of life left” - what does that even mean. But I digress. Sepia and El Duderino 2

There's two different issues here, but your advice applies to both. I'm not playing the Temu game, but this thread opening post has opened my eyes to the profit opportunity here, buyer beware (Surprised to see Solomon's doing similar). Good thread, appreciated.

Not that it matters, as it’s swings and roundabouts in terms of profit margins. You might get 100% margin on one thing and 7% on another. Whatever it takes to keep the lights on. Nothing nefarious about it. Dusty and El Duderino 2
