BuffsVintageBikes Posted August 14, 2025 Posted August 14, 2025 Same as TPU tubes... the local markup on Temu bought TPU tubes is just silly,
michaelbiker Posted August 15, 2025 Posted August 15, 2025 This has been happening on takealot for quite some time too. I remember seeing a pair of riding glasses that sold on Aliexpress for R100 going for R750. Buyers just have to do their homework. I don’t think there is any reasonable way to force people to mention where they bought something, how much they paid for it etc etc. Those that leave short, cryptic descriptions will just sell less. A good feature to add that doesn’t lead to comments on a listing would be an upvote on the product. I browse the classifieds and use them a lot and if I see something I like but don’t need, it would be cool to just give a thumbs up. That way others have a little more info on whether it’s a legit deal or not. Carousell in Singapore - one of my favourite classifieds apps shares the favourites count for a product and it’s quite useful for both buyers and sellers. Rowl 1

Everyone has their own opinion on TEMU parts, which is totally okay, I myself bought the EXACT same carbon OSPW from TEMU just a few weeks ago.... I paid R180. What I'm saying is, go ahead and resell TEMU parts, but there really needs to be a CLEAR disclosure that it is a TEMU part. It is just very poor form from sellers trying to profit from, more often than not, low quality products. I hope I'm not the only one who feel this way. Cheers Completely disagree here. For one, it’s not a Temu part. The part that is being sold is a Cyclami component. That brand sells multiple other complent type stuff like lights, pumps, tubes etc. Secondly, how do we know the seller actually bought the product from Temu. Like others have said, i have seen Cyclami on Takealot, Solomons, Bike-Addict and I’m certain from other stores as well. And they aren’t being sold for Temu prices. Thirdly, it’s a free market. You can sell for whatever price you want even if the item was bought from Temu. As a buyer, you need to do your homework properly. If you dont, then that’s on you. As long as the seller is not lying about the authenticity of the part, then he can sell for whatever he wants to. mikkelz, Ibraheem Laher, Ruben101 and 8 others 11

Daniel Christensen Posted December 11, 2025 Posted December 11, 2025 Temu isnt a brand, its a shop. Stop saying my temu this and my temu that. That derailleur cage you bought off of temu is from a reputable brand called Cyclami. Northcliff cycles gets a bunch of different stuff from them. The latest handlebars everyone is buying is called Kocevlo and its available on temu. They are a well established brand overseas. People should do their own research what they are buying. Nobody has to disclose if its from temu or not. guidodg, WaynejG, Paul Ruinaard and 3 others 5 1
betaboy Posted December 11, 2025 Posted December 11, 2025 I refuse to fund any repairs done to the Wall of China in the foreseeable future, but then again, I’m Temu and Ali F** kpress free!💪🏻

Is it suggested that buyers check the sources of these parts before selling them on the Hub?. If I purchase from my LBS, the item comes directly from them, regardless of whether they obtained it from Temu. Temu is just an online store like any other.
Paul Ruinaard Posted December 12, 2025 Posted December 12, 2025 Have we become such a nation of imbeciles? If a guy finds a gap to buy and import something you want or need cheaply and gets a market locally, well done to him or her. That is commerce. If you work out his game and see the parts from a supplier online then well done - but dont expect him to offer you the part at the buy price he is getting it. Otherwise take the initiative and get the part yourself and get the benefit of the reduced price. Its not difficult. Really . FWIW Temu is also great for many other gizmos for motorbikes. And they are good quality and fit. Fender eliminators, screens, custom sidecovers, handelbar triple clamp extensions. All about a thrird of the price of local suppliers. In summary, before these sites existed many guys (Ryder?) were sourcing these things from their chinese marketplace suppliers there and then selling them branded locally. Tell me i am wrong. Thats just free commerce. Only (not so) grey area .... FALSE ADVERTISING .... If an add states it is "Shimano XT" and it turns out to be a cheap chinese knock-off ... well then most people would think this was taking the mickey .... thought the odd @DieselnDust might think the knock off is actually an upgrade .... The only other issue .... how was the product sourced ? Sadly way too often our own buddies tells us about this exceptionally good deal they got of mid-night spares, uhm sorry marketplace .... demmit, we all KNOW the people that got mugged to stock those damn shelves !!! Somebody importing an item and selling it without miss-representing it .... good to them.
