Further feedback I got from Mr Cason.

I'm no good at these kind of things, if there is someone with more/better computer skills and knowledge of these things to maybe set this up?

The below is what I could find online:

 TransportMinistry@dot.gov.za

info@dot.gov.za

I was thinking over the weekend that a change.org petition or something similar could work. The penguin activists has a good system as well where people can automatically email the relevant minister that might work.

https://www.africanpenguinnotonourwatch.org/email-the-minister

That section is a priority for the Mayor so legal and our officials must give him feedback on a continuous basis of progress so we are trying but unless they evict we will always sit with the problem.

Thank you

Louis

Spaanschemat River Road, between Steenberg Village shopping centre and the American Embassy. 5:50am this morning.

Two entrepreneurs looking for customers at the infamous Strava segment "The Hijack Danger Zone - Be careful here". One on each side of the road.

The guy on the Westlake side stepped into the bike lane to stop me and said, "sir, sir." I growled f-off and veered right. He didn't follow. The next rider I caught up to said the same thing happened to him. I stopped at the American Embassy and phoned Constantia Watch to come check it out. Next rider to arrive said same thing happened to him too and noted that there were 2 guys, one on each side of the road.

I hope nobody became a victim there today.

Sad irony of the location noted, there seems to be "free lodge and boarding" available for those persons just down the road.image.png.c298ce5a5ae6efcd3b645e59fc09d737.png

As received

Send an email to Min Barbara Creecy, our esteemed Minister of Transport, they need to get Prasa and Transnet to commit to remove the vagrants from their premises. Also make sure to report it to Woodstock SAPS, so it can be on record.

TransportMinistry@dot.gov.za

The COCT Safety and Security Agencies can do very little, but to patrol the area as the perps just rushes through the broken fences onta Prasa and Transnet grounds.

We, as Cyclists, needs to unite and bombard her office with complaints regarding this issue.

" Vriend van ons Nihan was vnoggend so 8h se kant beroof. Hy het Helshoogte oor gekom vanaf Pniel en regs gedraai by verkeerslig op R44. Hulle het teen opdraend hom gegryp, kon net weg kom met selfoon, hy het bietjie stry op gesit toe hulle fiets wou vat. Die hele Stellenbosch area is duidelik nou n hotspot "

As received on a cycling WA group last night, seems  'old' hotspots in Stellies are being targeted again :(

Stellenbosch is a general sh!t show at the moment.
Carte Blanch did a whole thing about the students being kidnapped for quick turn around ransom.
Apart from the general high rate of muggings (and murders) in previously safe areas.

JP Smith has a new position post election.  At least there are new people in the Northern Suburbs doing what he used to do.  Not sure where JP is now ....

His position within the DA has changed but I'm pretty sure he is still responsible for safety and security.

Let's hope so.

He is no longer sitting in the same meetings ....

Semigrating from Pretoria to CPT next year. Is cycling from Melkbosstrand to City Centre (Bree Street) via the West Coast Cycle Path a safe and viable option?

Melkbos to Paarden Eiland (market area) is very safe, but from Paarden Eiland to City Center on Cycle path and N1 is a high crime area at the moment. Plenty of muggings at Woodstock bridge area.

Not really. Most of it is okay, but there's a stretch from Paarden Eiland through to the city that has been a hotspot for years. The alternative is to take Marine Drive onto the N1, but that has its own risks, and the area around the Woodstock exit has become a major hotspot recently.

Try and get a Harbor permit and use Duncan Road to get to City Center.
