I'm a believer that's just too heavily invested in a few set of awesome Hope's. Now if those ones for sale were either both brown or green, my ODC would not flare up...

There was a green rear on a carbon rim floating around in the classifieds to match the green front hub... I've beaten away that evil temptress a few times

Kids recently started cycling so I dusted off the old steed.

Wish I sourced more of them when they were still relatively easy to find. Still hoping to find a brown-ish Peace 9r once day

I had 3, 2 at the same time. Best one was my gold v brake version. I dunno why, but it was smooth as butter!

 

Had another gold disc, and a brown disc.

 

Really want another!

Hauled the old lady out of the garage for a little winter tour... just in time to catch The Storm. 4 days, 340km, 4500m ascent, less walking than you would think. 32x18 for touring is the bomb - no temptation to chase speed (once you hit 25, rest-time), and rollable up anything less than 9%. Past that, walk at the speed you would have climbed anyway. And when the storm hits and you are riding in clay/mud/gloop, you just ride. 

 

<yes, the chain is a tad slack. The old lady's nether regions are a little worn out after 13 years>

And here I am thinking everybody has traded their SS bikes for gravel bikes. Because that is the new thing ...

So, decided to find out what this SS thing is all about.

 

Got the frame (great condition !) and some components from BaGearA on the hub. Collected on Monday.

 

Got some great advice from Jewbacca, Ben Graham, and NSBB on gearing. Thanks !

 

Ordered rear cogs and chain from Rapide on Monday. Got it on Tuesday. Great service again !!

 

Started with 32/18. Short test ride today (Lunch time).Might go 32/16

 

So I guess time will tell !!

I'm rather keen to give this a go too, but unfortunately my XD driver is throwing a spanner into the works.

 

I rode BMX for yonks back in school, so I should acclimatize pretty easily!

I think the jump to 16 is a bit much.

32x17 is a better ratio imo

Still going to play around with ratios quite a bit to find that “magic” gear.
