  1. Short answer - No.

They're weekly goals. Even though you have an ITB strain you can still do other stuff at the gym. If there's a broken bone or you undergo surgery, THEN you can attempt to get a reprieve for a couple weeks by emailing Vitality together with proof of the procedure you underwent, and get it suspended for a while.

Otherwise - suck it up, cupcake. :P

Slightly shorter answer - there should be for things that legitimately prevent you from doing any exercise at all. But it's at their own discretion.

Yeah, the 700 points I did manage to get were from going to the gym, unfortunately, card swipes only get you so far. And thats because I'm a member at Virgin. What if I was not, like last month...?

  2. I have a question regarding the active rewards story.

So, all the rewards (shoe boosters, watch boosters, gym boosters etc) are based on achieving a weekly goal of X amount of points, in order for the benefits to "pay out".

I'm on the Endurance & High Performance scheme, so have a fixed points goal of 1200 per week. Most weeks I'm at almost 2000 points or more, (Some even over 3000 if I've run a marathon etc).

Last week i had a bit of an ITB strain, and was only able to get 700 points, missing my goal.

Now, surely the fact that one is generally surpassing the points goal by quite a margin on a weekly basis, should count for something, and in a week where you're injured or ill, some sort of leeway should be granted.

So if my points goal is 4500 points a month (1200 x 4), and I'm off for a few days in one week, but I'm still close to 6000 or more points for the month, should i be penalized...?

I understand it's "Weekly" goals, but surely if the billing runs monthly, then they could look at your points over the month...?

  3. 53km/h!

Myself and a mate share the KOM down that Bomber Downhill (I don't know how to say this, but I'm kind of a big deal). We averaged 52km/h for the segment, but hit a max of 77km/h.

That tightish right hander needs a late entry and tight apex, and some confidence in your rubber. It has a hole right on the apex now, that messes with your mind, coz you cant see it till you're just about to drill it, flat out.

  4. I'm sure that initial 25% (If you have the Healthy gear card and have done the fitness assessment) is not 25% of the purchase price of the shoes. My 25% is on a maximum of R2000, so at max, i get R500 back. I looked into this when purchasing my Forerunner 735XT.

And even then, i don't know how many times one can get 25% off of how many R2k purchases. ie, I'm not too clued up on how the billing cycle works.

  5. I paid R2300 for my shoes, but they have no record of me buying the shoes, so I can't give you an answer now.

As soon as they resolve my query (3-5 working days from 01-Feb), I can hopefully give you feedback.

From what I've seen, it is supposed to be R2000 max on the 75% portion (shoe booster cash back amount), that means R2666.66 * 75% = R2000.

Then divided by 12 months = R166.66 cash back every month.

Aaah, 75% on the shoe portion being 2k max, gotcha. Cool, keep us posted.

  6. On the Shoe Booster story, if you want shoes that are more than R2000, do they still pay you back on the value of R2k, and you basically incur the additional cost...?

Sportsmans must have a blind person choosing their colour options for them.

I want Nike Vomero 12's (R2100 from them, sub 2k at Totalsports and many other places). SW only has them in a lovely avocado green colour. Who the hell buys avo green shoes...?!

How about a simple black n white option...?

  7. I'm really hoping that with this more focused foray into the marathon crazy S.A market, there are plans to release an XC/Marathon oriented, steeper geometried full suss bike to rival the likes of the S-Works Epics etc. After the Tallboy 3 went a bit slacker now, I'm left wondering what to buy after my TB2, which I've done my best to get to be as sharp and "twitchy" as my Highball...

  8. It's injectable, and therefore contravenes some sort of no needles policy, (though that policy became less clear to me in the Rourke story, when it was stated that its only "no needles" IN competition.)

It can be injected intra-muscularly or subcutaneously. All it really does is make you feel hot and tingly in the face, which a strong dose of L-Arganine does too. I cant say whether or not it had a positive effect on cycling performance, as i only tried it before i took up cycling...

  9. this man has a point..

"this product" (emphasis on you have to BUY it ) theres lotsa products out there made by lotsa snake oil salesmen NONE of them really do anything that good diet and training ( yeah imagine that.. if you want to go faster you have to actually practice)  wont produce without them being used.

there are no magic bullets

remember this if it actually did anything it would be banned already and a fool and his money are soon parted ....don't be the fool brother

and seriously body builders use it ....really ........do you want to have tiny shrunken genitals and a crappy attitude and smother yourself in selftan and wear a speedo

Hmm, look at the budgie smuggling, lycra wearing, leg shaver casting stones...

    Easy on the generalisations, tiger...

  10. No harm, no foul.. this thread is all about the chinese frames and products. Importing no name(blank)or items allready branded in my opinion are the same if any wrong doing, agree ?

The original (real thing)Name brands comes with a serial number/ certificate and thats your comfort and quarentee when buying.

The debate goes on and on, not pointing out wrong from right just saying. Whilst this thread runs its open to anyone's opinion what they can afford and for what reason they want to ride whichever.

Disagree, for the same many reasons that have been discussed here...

Try the chaps that were in Broadacres and on Carte Blanche if you're looking for someone to agree with you on this...

  11. Hayley, you seem to really be taking NZ by the balls n getting stuck in and involved. Your posts and all the info on races etc are what's motivating me to want to make the jump across to there.

My sister and her fam were just granted residency, and my mom moved over a month ago.

I think I need to start getting my ducks in a row now.

    Keep your pics coming please...
