We had 2 pekinese x with a dog for about nine years. She gave birth to a litter of 8, all survived but this little white one couldn't cope and we took him back in.

Today mom (not in the pic anymore) had to be put down this morning because of heart failure. Tried heart meds for 2 weeks but only got worse with water on the lungs now as well.

Only dad (brown one) and son left. Whenever I look at them they're like, where is Rosebud? My heart is so sore and kids doesn't know yet, will have to tell them later this afternoon. e6baa6268207d175c868b66be123d1a8.jpg

Sorry for your loss. I have two pekingese doggy children myself, and they are the most amazing animals.

Mine is also going on 9 years now, but both still fit and healthy.

At puppy training yesterday we were practicing dropping treats and then using the "Leave" and "Ok eat it" commands.  Lucy-fer kept on missing the drop, and then spent ages hunting for the treat on the ground.  Apparently, pointing it out and saying "There it is, you Chop" is frowned upon....

On a different note, the next puppy we get is going to be called Corona

He’s not allowed on the couch. My two teenage boys make it their mission to send me a WhatsApp pic every time he defies me!! Let’s just say I might have to buy more cloud storage soon!! He’s an old fella now, been beat buds with my eldest son since a baby. They’ve grown up and old together. Pure magic.

Resistance is futile

Just put his favourite blankie on the couch so he can have sweet dreams

And thank your lucky stars he's a dog, not a cat, or your couch would have looked like the woolly end of a mop by now!i

I am having a bit of a problem with socializing Stella. Cape Town has a parvo virus epidemic at the moment and the vet says that a puppies' own immunity from vaccination cannot be fully trusted until they have had their third round of shots at about 15 weeks. Until that time it is not advised to visit parks frequented by lots of dogs or for her to come into contact with people who are likely to have contact with un-vaccinated dogs.

My worry is that we may miss the boat with getting her used to people, dogs, cars, bicycles and all kind of strange noises so that she is not fazed by it later on.

I cannot keep her at home and too isolated, but I also don't want to endanger her.

Anyone with advice?
