Got the Ikons and tried to put one on yesterday.

Should be simple enough but I cannot get the thing inflated quickly enough, even at a garage.

Stuff to try:

1) remove the valve core to allow faster airflow. Once seated refit the core and inflate normally.

2) hang the wheel vertically on a peg or from a strap so the tyre bead is not deformed

3) tiedown strap around the circumference of the tyre and cinch it up gently...this should push the tyre beads outwards towards the rim's bead seating area.

Good luck

Try to get some of the bead seated by using your hands and pulling hard on the sides of the tire. If the the bead is partially seated then the air will escape less easily when inflating.

Even if just 1 side of the tire is partially seated, it should be enough to make the air grip and pop the entire bead into place.

Interesting regarding schwalbe's racing ralphs, from their webpage

NOTE: This is an out and out competition tire! Puncture protection and durability are limited!

Never saw that before

Best tyres for these dry cape wine routes, dust and just sand feels like surfing.

Not finding any problems with my Conti Mountain Kings, nice and grippy in the loose stuff.
