Slacking big time 276.8 / 3 rides / ?? IF

Last weeks TSS was 0 due to laziness. So feeling better than last Monday! Hoping this thread might get me going, have some formidable goals, can't be slacking right now!

How does one get an IF from training peaks, I am on premium.

On dashboard have the chart TSS by week, when you hover over the bar chart for the particular week it will give you TSS and IF

For the different training zones, is there a desired workout IF?

It's easy doing 4 blocks at a Wattage level that is say in your Tempo zone for a Tempo workout but the warmup and cool down can be so low that it drops the entire work level to a much lower level

asking as a pure TSS number is not the only factor, TSS and IF paints a more truthful picture of what was done.

Answering my own question from material I found:

0   - 0,75 - Active recovery

0,75 - 0,85 - Endurance

0,85 - 0,95 - Tempo

0,95 - 1,05 - Sweet Spot

1,05 - 1,15 - Threshold

Thanks!

so my IF for last week was 0.65 - I do have a dodgy heart rate monitor strap I need to sort out though, so not really trusting my numbers right now.

Try have 5 weeks of 0 and eating bar ones for supper (yes I really did that) and then getting back on the bike.

I cannot tell you how ugly that is.

Haha thanks for that picture! Most certainly trying to avoid that. That image, should keep the tss in the positive for a while! hehe

but hey the struggle is real. I don't know how other people stay consistently fit.

If I can ever give anyone any advice its that. No more than 2 weeks off. It wasn't for a lack of trying, I really did but i landed up travelling a lot in SA and over to Europe and played catch up between on work so it went to pooh.

However, now its time to practice what I preach I guess. Finding out I'm the worst athlete to try coach ever....

Fear of getting unfit and knowing the pain to suffer to get back to a certain level

All the nonsense with Discovery helps... haha.

But on a more serious note, I don't find it that hard. Just had a look at my data now, have record back to Dec 2015 and I have not had a Zero week since back then, and just 2 weeks below 100 tss.

I had a bad bout of bronchitis, which resulted in a loss of three weeks worth of good training. My recent FTP test had a horrible 12% dip, so I was looking online to understand why I had such a big dip. I stumbled across this:

http://www.cyclingweekly.com/fitness/training/detraining-the-truth-about-losing-fitness-22330

Thought that would be interesting for you to read.

The big dip in my FTP numbers is because my base is not too great as I have only recently started cycling (in Feb).

If you’re a seasoned cyclist, don’t worry about taking a training break of up to two weeks as your fitness losses will not be too large. However, fitness losses for those new to cycling, or those or with a low fitness base will be proportionately greater.

If you train, how I think you do...which is polarized...then, regardless how fit you might be, its never pretty...but 5weeks off...I can completely understand what is meant by "ugly".

I have two and a half weeks left of "just riding" and not worrying about the numbers. Then it's back to structured workouts for 18 weeks, with two peaks planned. Never thought I'd be taking my annual fun ride so seriously.

Will see how life, work, family, race organising and health intervenes over the next 20 weeks.
