My only complaint.

I did not meet a single hubber, except for my old friend NSBB of course.

I even wore my Hub bibs so as to be recognizable. Was hoping that I would be singled out and greeted. Dang roadies...

Also thought I would meet a hubber or two but was in the start batch a tad late and did not meet any on the road.

I saw you and your sis in the starting pen before the bridge but I didnt feel like squeezing through, but completely lost you before we reached the pen under the bridge and I see you guys finished a minute before me. Pity I wasnt able to tag along for a ride.

I saw quite a few in Hub kit looking hopefully at all around them hoping to be recognised

Not a sausage.....

I mean same start time within your group / starting batch. Each starting batch is a race - that is how its set up. You may start in a later "race" but not an earlier one...

but then how will they know which batch to start your time with?

I started in the I group and for some reason there were no bunches anywhere. It’s not that I dropped back with the pace either, I rode with the first couple of guys in the group, we caught up to H but as soon as the hills started the group shattered, then on the downhill’s it was everybody for themselves and only about 3 times did we stay in a group for longer than 5 minutes. I really battled in the wind leading up to the N14. Did this happen to any other groups?

Also started in I.Rode hard on the N1 ,no real bunch and rode alone until N14 where we made a small bunch that held together to the turnoff .From there it was survival ,battling with cramps ,trying to hang onto anybody ,but they were also suffering .It was hard work to earn a 2h54

I enjoyed that last climb, I had a lady hanging off my left pocket and my right hand on another ladies bum

Not surprised you enjoyed the last climb. Was good to do some miles with you and Mattie. Looking at her during the race, there were good times and not so good times (which you made better times :-). Good job!

we got a small group of hubbers on a whatapp group which all started in the same bunch, we met a few of them at the beginning. It was good company in the start chutes and enjoyed riding together - for a while.

This was my sixth 94.7. Started in group I at 7:07, people weren't very talkative, I guess not many hubbers in the group... It was seriously hot and I started sweating at 6 already. I did a 3:16 according to my Garmin, 3:18 according to Racetec. 12 minutes faster than last year, definitely training for a sub 3 next year!

The good:

1. General organisation of the event.

2. Polo Fields parking - close to the end, don't mind paying for it

3. Awesome support - waterpoints, spectators, medics, marshals

5. The Verimark sign

6. Everyone that contributed in some way or another to a charity.

The bad:

1. N14

2. Late comers pushing in from the side

3. The guy changing his tire in the middle of the road on the N14 - wtf...

The ugly:

1. JOE SLOVO DRIVE - wow, seriously felt it yesterday

2. Diepsloot "inwoners" taking photos of the dancers in their "sjoe" broekies - shocking...

I only spotted it on my second lap, it was rather mean! What did it say again? Something about ...40km.

edit: It was a nice reminder of the suffering ahead.

anyone know how the guys are after the major crash after the Zoo/ Jan Smuts in C batch?

I heard that crash and it sounded nasty - it was less of the scrapes and shouts you usually hear, and more a thud and silence. Not pleasant.

I had quite an exciting ride - last year did a 2:40 so was desperate this year for a sub 2:40. Loaded the gpx file from last year into my Garmin as a route and spent the whole ride racing myself from last year..... was quite interesting to see where I was faster/slower this year to last year....

I was 2 minutes ahead of 2012's version of myself, until I hit heartbreak hill. Where apparently last year I was faster.....I lost the 2 minutes, and an extra minute in the last 5km.

Oh well, next year......
