Don't buy these long waiting times - for the Argus where there is more entries one can get through the whole process in no time, even when you collect your number on the first day.

My feeling is that these events are all about maximising profit for the organisers and not maximising enjoyment for the customers (riders).

These events are big enough to survive, but we are already seeing smaller events (Grape Escape in Mtbing) being cancelled and maybe it is time that organisers take note.

I arrived and was handed my number by a friend of mine who stood in the queue only to find his number had been collected as part of a batch he is riding in. So he decided to collect mine

When 30,000 odd people enter an event, there's going to be a bit of a bottleneck at times. Could they have done better? Probably. But the fact remains that this event is one my highlights of the year and I don't even like road riding. It's well organised, on race day, and the atmosphere is great. I would prefer not to wait hours to collect my number but would still do it for this event.

I did not see the warning for Thursdays so was oblivious to the "danger" thereof, but next year, I'll just go on another day.

I've said this before, we all work for money, some are lucky enough to enjoy their jobs. They still don't do it for nothing though.

When we work, we all try to make as much as possible. Why do we begrudge people making a profit?

Yes, but we also learn that the customer comes first. No customer means no profit.

Good grief , I been cycling for 25 odd years and I remember the days when we could not wait to go get our silly number out in the sticks and race whatever was put in front of us as best we could . we all just loved the sport and nobody bitched .no days everyone has a gripe about EVERY thing , too hard , to technical, to flat, too steep , no water points, no chicken burgers , bottle necks , tar is to black , sand is too dusty ,my goodie bag has no free cream for my soft ass skin , wtf , bla bla bla .

when did our cycling society becomes such whinges ?
