Adverse Analytical Finding - in-competition test

Not sure about the detail, just noticed the comments on Twitter at the time. Maybe not the same as the international program. More like a when and where can they get hold of you to test and they might or might not rock up for a test.

Will be interesting to find out. If its not formal then it must be open to abuse.

Ja, I saw you post after I posted. But is there not maybe some connection between? EPO deaths made the authorities get a bit more serious about things.

 

Sure epo deaths would be top of the list for the health argument perspective, however i recall the health side being present long before epo was popular.

 

Im pretty sure the initial objective for drug testing was to protect athletes from harming or killing themselves....remember in the long ago times people used to take stuff without proper medical supervision and would occasionaly fall over and die during an event because of stuff they took during the event, either to improve performance or to fix the pain

This guy has a license number so is a licensed cyclist and subject yo normal rules.

When you enter ANY event, you have a license number. What is your point?

 

Cheating us cheating, back marker or not. Random tests serve a purpose as it keeps everyone on their toes.

No it doesn't.

The 250 000 odd funriders in this country does not give a rats ass to what they eat or not eat. As normal person you don't check all your foods and drinks.

 

If everyone knew only the top pro's would be tested, many others would dope.

So let us test ALL the pros and not just SOME.

 

And let's race it, there is some good prize money etc at stake outside of the pro ranks.

I am one of the BIG supporters of taking away the price money of all not competing categories. You want price money. Go race pro. You want bragging rights for being the fastest?........funrider.

 

I have been beaten by riders who dope, and it's unfair. So anyone caught then I think it's good. If I get caught because I'm just in the bunch and didn't check on the meds I took, then I must take the punishment.

Problem is.....the stuff that this guy was caught with was not meds.....

And about 90% of stuff on medicine and supplement I don't know what it is.......because the manufacturers use buzz words rather than medical terms.

 

Where do you then draw the line on who is tested and who not ?

 

Pros get tested. Fun riders not.

 

You take part in a sport you have the risk of being tested. That's how it should be.

Partake or compete? Think a bit.....if you compete...then sure....

If you partake in an event just because you want to beat your buddy or do the view at the top.....why must limited funds be used to test these guys?

 

I also disagree that pro's not tested. I have ridden with pro's training and they get a call that testers are at the house and they need to get home for a test. This is 8 on a Sunday morning.

 

Again....just some of them.

And NOTHING is visible to see. No reports. No nothing.

Give me a report printed on black on white telling me who has been tested when and who passed and failed, then I will belief.

 

I have been tested in the past. You hear #*%$ from them. Which is good. But it would be nice to see that I have been tested, found clean etc.

 

 

And all said and done......all the mumbo jumbo above this post.....it means nothing.

Because the REAL dopers....the guys that dope on purpose and KNOWS what he puts in his body....he can pass that piss test with flying colors!

I wasn't aware that there is a local whereabouts program. Wonder how it is administered? By whom?

 

All nations (SAIDS in South Africa) that subscribe to the WADA code have a local whereabouts program within the guidelines of the ADAMS system and sporting code's governing bodies. How widely and efficiently it's implemented though is another thing.

There again though, there are efforts to simplify the administration and use via the app.

Not so much anymore with a bio passport and whereabouts system. IF it's implemented throughly and consistently, that's the killer.

They need to stop calling these races "races"

They are events, people need to enter because they want to experience the terrain and the area.

Or call them challenges, this whole series hogwash is killing friendships and building ego's bigger than the Parthenon only to find out they are like a scale model of Leaning tower Pizza.

It's a formal process, but surprise tests are normal and not always in conjunction with the where abouts program.

Part of the where abouts program is for riders to check in wherever, knowing that they're subject to a visit at anytime by testers.

So, if you're supposed to be at Harry's Sex Shop for two days and the testers arrive but you're in the next province. Problems.

 

Unfortunately this isn't in place a helluva lot, it comes back to money once again.
