Wyatt Earp Posted March 6, 2015 Share Sorry I am a bit late. I saw the distance got reduced, saw many cyclist bitchin and moaning about it.Looked at all the pictures posted all over the place, the devastation, the sadness and the sorrow in those who are caught up in the tragedy. Yesterday for the radio talk I had no idea what to talk about, all I could think about was the CTCT and the fires and I decided that we should talk about that .I have never done an Argus. I mentioned how people should put their own selfish thoughts and ideas aside and ride for solidarity, the firefighters in those heavy hot suits, the woman sitting on a pile of rubble that used to be her home and her entire life's memories. Many others who lost their homes and suffered smoke inhalation .The terror for kids that had to witness this.I could go on all day. If I ever wanted to do an Argus, this would be the one, and I will be sure to take as long as I can to cover the new distance decided upon, take time to greet fellow cyclists, give others a hug, banter and show my support to the people of Cape Town .If I had the ways and means to be there, I would have been filled to the brim with excitement to be a part of something that could unite the people of Cape Town like never before. I want every cyclist who leaves that start line to go and make the cycling community proud and show the people of Cape Town that we care .Have fun and be safe . Shebeen Posted March 6, 2015 Share I have never done an Argus. Wait never done an argus? You can get unfairly judged for admitting things like that, that must be like being a pope watching porn. but otherwise 100%, my thoughts exactly...lets go have some fun on bikes people. sawystertrance Posted March 6, 2015 Share I have posted this on the Ou Kaapse Weg thread but think it is more appropriate here: Wouldn't it be a great idea if the CTCT was opened to anyone now for a fee of, say, R100? All cyclists who have not entered yet could take part and the extra fees raised could go to the Volunteer WildfireServices. The race has, after all, lost half its distance and could gain something extra. It could be a wonderful initiative with benefits and could be remembered in the future as something special in which many got to participate. Barker Posted March 6, 2015 Share Does anyone have the new routes profile? The profile on this image does not include heights or distance. Grade would be awesome aswell. http://www.sapeople.com/wp-content/uploads/2015/03/cape-argus-route-map-590x856.jpg
