My only concern is no where vitality stated that 1200 is the weekly cap (that i know off) so they can make that higher for the top earners.

But with our legal system being in the state it is, will disco win a court case if you sue them over this crap? Yes i know we (those that took) signed contracts with disco saying we will stick to the rules. But i cannot think that one can just do what ever they like.

What if your bank comes to you and say yes uhm we decided that youre house payments will stay the same but because 2 mil 5 years ago is actually 8 mil in todays money we are going to make you payback 8 mil instead of 5 mil.

Isnt that the same crap? Or have i just not had my first cup of coffee yet.

The 1,200 point cap was reiterated at the technical training sessions and at the launch, and hasn't changed. Changing that cap would be counter-productive as their entire MO is to get people to do at least 4 sessions per week of 30 mins of high intensity stuff. At no point in time have they said that they will look at changing that soft cap.

And no, it's not the same thing as your loan scenario. That would be a material change in the terms of the contract and would have to result in you being granted an additional loan amount of R6m.

There hasn't been a material change in any contract. The vitality active rewards thing is NOT a contract, the watch payment arrangement is. To use your analogy, it would be the same as if the watch payments on an existing contract (where the watch was, say, R 6,000 and your max payment was, say, R 250 per month) were increased mid-contract to allow for the new dollar-adjusted price of an i-watch if you had bought it now - ie: Your cost at time of purchase was R 6,000 and R 250 per month payment, but the cost of a new one is R 8,000 and so your max payment is now R 350 per month.

THAT would be a material change in the contract, and would be illegal.

Or - the payment term suddenly changes to 12 months from the current 24.

I have to reach 1200 points per week however with Discovery removing my TomTom from the system this is impossible yet they recommend to me to do some gym sessions using my heart rate monitor and running the park run. Still leaves me at 900 points only and how do I measure my heartrate when they DQ my device? Vitality races are a rarity in Gauteng and when you do find one they not linked to a timing company affiliated to Vitality. I mknow this is just a value add but somewhere along the line the company must question their integrity of endorsing TomTom devices only to eliminate it now.

DV Response:

""Please remember that there are various ways to earning points towards your Vitality Active Rewards goal, such as completing parkruns, Vitality races, recording your steps and/heart rate using any of our compatible devices/app listed on: http://bit.ly/1TtKOZo

Regards,
DV""

Impey should have just logged his warm up on the IDT before racing, am sure he can get his 30mins for Disco there

Else he needs to learn to play the Disco game better and crop the ride for a 30 min hill climb segment

Hi

One of my team mates is no longer on the rewards program - if there is someone that is looking for a teammate, you can message me.  If you do not always make the week's target it is not a train smash.  I don't want to put a curse on myself, but have only missed one since January, although 1100 points is hard "work".

Cheers

I made a comment to a former work colleague (also a native of Belgium).

I said he looks a lot like Philippe Gilbert.

He relied, "I know, a lot of people say that. The only difference is that pro-cyclists aren't the smartest kids on the block".

Not saying DI is the same, but makes me think of that comment.

Daryl Impeys 2nd overall in today's stage at the TDF would have netted him a whopping 300 points I think based on his age.

But of course, some get 1500 easy peasy so he must be slacking.....

Are you suggesting he should get 63,000 points in 21 days for doing his job? And then Discovery covers his astronomical medical bills should he have misfortune in a crash as he did last year?  I fail to see how a guy who only turns up to ride for our entertainment, with everything provided to him from shoes to glasses nevermind food and drinks, can have any relevance on the Active Rewards programme.

There is a massive disconnect between a programme designed for people who are physically inactive and those who are already fit and active or professional sportsmen.

But I guess those seeking sensationalism will continue to post rubbish like this.

You are missing the point.

"posts like these" are made to show exactly how screwed the new vitality system is

Seems like the biggest issue here is that a lot of people want to use Vitality targets / points as hero awards for disproportionate efforts. Surely the whole scheme was engineered at people obtaining a minimum healthy activity level.

It most definitely wasn't meant to identify and reward super heroes. That said, has anybody been approached by a pro setup because of their vitality points awarded / target ration?

Happy smoothie hunting (yeah, NOT super hero award hunting!)

Back to something more real. Anybody heard anything more about the rumoured (in this thread) changes to the active rewards scheme?

Still on 1100 points for this week..

A grand total of 100 points for a 3+ hour ride. Avg HR was below 70% of max though.. I feel genuinely robbed!  :cursing:

two people on the same route, and distance.

One gets 100 points, the other 3000.

Forget age, as it's % of max.

This shows the frustration for some and another easy day out for the other (points wise that is).

Hopefully the change is coming and more realistic.
