Vegan Warrior Posted October 16, 2018 Share This is only relevant if you had subscribed before November last year, and means that you go up to the same rate as everyone who signed up after November 2017. So it's not an across the board price increase.Correct! Should have probably added that into the first post it’s an NB detail. Thanks for clearing that up. dirtypot
Vegan Warrior Posted October 16, 2018 Share I did the full Everest challenge but never got the Tron bikeEverest Challenge gets you the Trek Emonda. To get the Tron bike you got to climb a total of 50000m so that’s Everest almost 6 times. In other words rather let the Tron bike come to you. 2wieltjies

Dubber Posted October 16, 2018 Share Arrghh..brings up the conundrum I have been battling for a while. Is it really still worth it? Doesn't anyone find that it becomes too repetitive? Let's be honest..there are 4 worlds of which a certain two is repeated 80% of the time. In terms of routes you are therefore quite limited. Sure there are lotsa add-ons and features to make it more interesting. Just wondering if it is still worth it. More routes would have me become a life member. Think Rouvy and/or Tacx apps with a ton of real life videos are becoming more appealing (and yes they will now be cheaper than Zwift!)Tacx is also due a price increase shortly. And some of their previously free features will now become paid for features.I think all the trainer apps have or will have a price increase in the next month or so (TrainerRoad, Sufferfest, Zwift, Tacx etc) - so Rouvy will probably also follow suite. That said, a change is always fun :-)

Gnarly Posted October 22, 2018 Share Advice please, I'm using Zwift so please don't recommend Rouvy etc. I have just finished the 6 week FTP build up, which i enjoyed and really kept me focussed. For the past 6 weeks i have ridden 6 times a week indoor and outdoor. Now I want to choose between the Crit Crusher or the Grand Fondo training plans. Has anyone done them that could which one would be more beneficial for overall fitness. Thanks
bertusras Posted October 22, 2018 Share Two totally different plans in their approach https://whatsonzwift.com/workouts/crit-crusher/ https://whatsonzwift.com/workouts/gran-fondo/ Crit Crusher would focus way more on short intense bursts with good recoveries between, where Gran Fondo will focus on Zone 2 and 3 long endurance building sessions and you'll spend a lot of time at or just below FTP. Perhaps Build Me Up is more what you're looking for, but the sessions are super long. I've tried a couple and my ass just can't tolerate it. Thanks If it works it works, do another block 6 week FTP builder (you'll start with a higher FTP test and then obviously a more challenging programme). Then you'll have your base fitness truly sorted. Two 6 week blocks of base building is a great setup prior to going for more specialist blocks. The two programmes you propose are worlds apart and properly specialist in application. What do you want to do? What are you racing? If I had the time and discipline, I'd do two blocks of FTP builder, Build Me Up https://whatsonzwift.com/workouts/build-me-up/ and then a specialist block - probably this one https://whatsonzwift.com/workouts/8wk-race-day-prep/ For me this would be the perfect CTCT programme. What are your goals? Edited October 22, 2018 by thisismyotherbike
Gnarly Posted October 22, 2018 Share What are your goals? To be able to drink beer and still loose weight..... Jokes aside, no races planned. I just want good motivation. Here is Dubai it generally boring road miles. Go to the front and go hard for 4-5 minutes, go to the back take it "easy" till you back on front. We ride two by two and take turns on the front, can be a train of 6-10 long. But even when I lived in SA I did indoor structured training, i.e. Cadence. Cool will look at Build Me Up. How long is super long? My recored is 5hr57 on IDT, of which 5hrs10 was riding/pedaling time.

Anything over an hour is super long for me, but I think you'll be just fine. The longer ones are 90-105 minutes. Gnarly

Has anyone done them that could which one would be more beneficial for overall fitness. Thanks Hi Gnarly, Based the question crit crusher vs grand fondo training plans I would say crit crusher in your case. Given the fact that your goals aren't to specific (nothing wrong with that) and your you just want some decent motivation go for the crit crusher. Briefly had a look at both plans workout and in general the crit crusher is more high end conditioning (zones 4 and up) where the grand fondo is more endrance/tempo conditioning (zones 2 and 3). I'm guessing most people would find the crit crusher workouts more stimulating than the more boring endurance/tempo workouts that the grand fondo has. Also bare in mind that your outside rides are already endrance/tempo so to then jump on the trainer and do the same things sounds silly (well for me anyways). Of course when it comes to training principles you need specificity in your training to meet your goals. But if your goals are just all round fitness and to be a bada** on the bike then variation in your training will most likely keep you motivated. It's worth noting that training at higher intensities has more of a cross over effect in terms of benefits at low intensities than the other way around. Do a bit research into "polarized training" to get some more insight. All the best out there in the desert. Gnarly
dirtypot Posted October 23, 2018 Share I've done them both and preferred the Crit Crusher. For me, I liked that the sessions themselves are short - an hour a day is easy to fit in. Added to that is the fact that its constantly changing - short bursts of power then up down up down more power, ect. For the gran fondo you end up doing 20 minute and 30 minute solid blocks of reasonably high intensity. Its great for fitness, but its also really boring!
