seriously? Look at countries that have laws like that and ask yourself if you would like to live in those places. They all seem to have one thing in common. And no I'm not talking about their religion (although there is that as well)

Yeah, I once spent a month in Sudan and was pleasantly surprised

Death penalty   bring it back... for those convicted like oscar piss following a DNA test.

For the S.A police service that don't know what a DNA TEST is:

Violence in South Africa will NEVER be cured.. how can it be cured when such a large monopoly of the population don't even have a conscious?

He can't.

South Africa cannot and will not bring back the death penalty.

For those interested, read articles 10-13 of the Bill of Rights.

And isn't it ironic that we have successive ministers of police calling on the cops to shoot to kill. State sponsored execution by any other name. Even had a perp shot at and killed by a cop for breaking into a car just outside my house a few years back.

Just for the record to avoid any confusion. I am not debating if the death sentence is a suitable punishment for murder. That is a debate for another thread. I am saying that at the current moment I do not think the death sentence will be a deterent for these perps at the moment. Go look at the video posted last week of the guys who tried to rob a cash-in-transit van and the one that got shot in front of the kindergarten. That guy was not scared of dying. Half these oaks drink stuff that they think makes them invincible. The last thing they worry about is the consequence of being caught.

PS. I am glad that suspects have been arrested. Lets hope for enough evidence for a conviction and then for a propper sentence.

Indeed. The death penalty may not be a deterrent. However, can anyone show me where a murder has been comitted by a person whose neck was stretched beyond design limits?

The only way forward me thinks, is to arm and train oneself.

We had an incident in kempton park that this time turned out for the better for us.

But it has led to one of us deciding to be armed and trained and carry snake shot.

In the event of anything it will clearly not point to attempted murder but rather self defence.

We can all chat about socio economic extenuating circumstances but at the end of the day us working class citizens need to stay alive to keep the chains of this corrupt machine well oiled.

Snake shot is not the solution. South African law does not differentiate according to the ammo that you use, so shooting someone with snake shot, that will not even penetrate a lot of clothing, is technically the same as shooting them with a +P hollow point. The difference is that you are much less likely to survive the encounter using snake shot. A jacked up perp will often not stop once you pull the trigger, in fact the majority of times, in that situation, the perp will be within grappling distance of you and will be too close to suddenly stop because you have a gun out, so you’d better have something that may help stop them.

If you shoot someone, you’d better be trying to stop an attack. If you’re in that situation, you’d better know what you are doing and be using the best possible tool for the job, and that ain’t snakeshot, despite what the warrior in the gunshop may tell you, or your mate who did national service so knows about guns.

Do some research. There are so many examples of people getting shot in a real life situation and still continuing to attack for long enough to kill the person who shot them. I have seen people shot or stabbed multiple times who continued to operate for minutes. Don’t risk it.

Wahoofish, sensible post. Long time ago my Dad worked in ballistics/propellents. He had FBI VHS tapes that clearly showed that unless you had the element of surprise, at close quarters you had better know what you were doing, exactly as you have put it. I doubt, if one were riding and two/three guys jump out at you you would stop, draw, safety off and get multiple shots off while being stormed. You'd have to have practiced and practiced over and over.

Again, if Chris Kyle as a highly trained gunman with tons of real world combat experience couldn't draw and defend himself against element of surprise, how are you going to manage it...

There is a also the drug crazed aspect - once I caught a guy stealing fuses from the local substation, I proper dosed him with pepper spray, but he did not go down! Instead ran away at speed after dropping his bag with the loot and drug paraphernalia. Also extraordinary strength is possible if the  Amphetamine family is involved (ie Tik)  - I have seen that myself back in the day when I used to do harm reduction work, like 4 bouncers trying to pin down a dood who its flipping out on Speed & LSD.

..............back in the day when I used to do harm reduction work,..............

Can you translate that for us please. My imagination (twisted Gary Larson like brain) is running away with me. ;)
