Whooaaa - take it off your CV my friend.

It's like running the 100m dash but the officials tie your one leg to your @ss (not sure how they'll do that but ya, you get my point  :D

Majority of companies pay recruiters to source potential candidates. These companies then take the short listed candidates for interviews and then after a lengthy process employ the person they like the most.

The recruiter then gets a 3 month retainer or fee but they walk away once you sign on the line. So the fact that you a have an illness has nothing to do with the recruiter - you only have to mention the illness once you're in the final stages of negotiations with the company. Then you can tell your line manager or their HR and make arrangements to suit both parties

Yes it is disclosed on my CV. Doctor said I should take it off my CV and sue the companies that has problems with it, because some discrimination mambo jumbo

Will remove it. Thanks. The one recruiter said I must disclose it (the one from the telecommunications company) to save the company time that I am going to waste. And then there is the recruiter that told me that I am wasting her time because I have cancer.

So will remove and upload and see if I get more hits

From experience in my company I can say , luckily my company could afford to help and  I very happily paid for 2 of my staff to stay home for months to recover the one guy was diagnosed with "TB", I took him to my DR got him on A.R.Vs pumped him full of healthy food and he is a very dedicated hard worker today works like 3 of my other staff(he weighed in the low 40kg region at a stage his count was so low we were told A.R..v will not work.

My long term driver was initially diagnosed with skin cancer sadly that escalated very fast, also sent him home(paid) 8 months later asked to come back to "actually earn the money we pay him" and we worked as best we could around all his hospital visits got him back to functional

how some paper pusher can actually get the words out their mouth "u wasting my time" is beyond me

I pity that persons family and "loved ones" as that is bottom of the barrel in my books

can you imagine being in that persons circle

The recruiter I am working with now... also made a huge issue of am I going to stand in long line and wait for my meds and how many times do I need to see an oncologist. Even after telling her few time I am on a medical ail I was still degraded as a person.

To be honest if the recruiter does this kind of thing, I don’t think the company is going to work.

I feel like I am a piece of trash and getting tired of feeling like this after every phone call from a recruiter!

And the company I worked for (after the CTO said I do not have to worry, I would not lose my job) could not get rid of me fast enough.

But waiting to hear from the recruiter as she phoned the CTO for a reference. That after I said they are going to give me a very bad reference.

my take on recruiters is that they are scum.

as others have said, take it off your CV, get you foot in the door for the interviews, only later down the line when in the final steps of negotiations is when you disclose it to negotiate flexible times.

APPARENTLEY you not allowed to give bad reference .. only allowed to comment if you something good to say.

Someone once gave me up as a reference after we fired him for lying on CV and being absolutely useless. , he got fired after 6 hours at his job

I gave the recruiter who phoned my very graphic honest opinion no knowing that I was suppose to only give positive feedback ..   Still wonder if that person got the job :)

Take anything that might make your CV end up in the bin (Age/Gender/Race/Address/Photo) etc of your CV.

I've seen WAY to many cv get binned just based on age/address .   so my CV have nothing on it , just my name (which is luckily gender neutral) and my experience.

Let them phone you disclose little as possible, they WILL discriminate although not allowed to, and disclose in the interview .. at least, like other said, you have foot in the door by then.

O ja .. also make sure your cv is 3 pages max .. first page is very short intro .  3 paragraphs max, other 2  pages is detailed summary of latest jobs/responsibilities.   You can send them a full cv on request.

After working at a place where you have to go through tons of CV's often, you get tired of looking for info and long/thick CV's mostley get binned.

Here's a nice link I've used in the past to update my CV: https://resume.io/ it has a 7 day period for something like $10.

I paid the $10 and used there website to update my CV format (as close to 2 pages as possible) and then I used a .pdf to .docx converter website to change the .pdf file they give to Word so that I can edit it on my side.

They give you something like 10 - 12 templates to choose from, I downloaded all of them once I finished entering my details. I think it works very well

Nope, you can give a negative reference. As long as you have evidence. If you give a factual negative reference the applicant can’t do anything.

Hi Cois,

Have you tried using Offerzen as your 'recruiter'? They work a bit different from other recruitment companies in that you build a profile and have a dedicated talent advisor helping with building this profile. Companies then come 'looking' for you based on your skills and experience. You do not end up trolling through hundreds of career pages. Maybe give it a try.

Disclaimer - I do not work for Offerzen or own shares in Offerzen. I just found there approach refreshing.

Tried to sign up, but got this reply...

Companies aren’t using OfferZen to hire for your specific role.

Just got back from the oncologist.

Suspended my chemo treatment for a week, and might suspend it for another depending on the state of my hands, feet and... penis.

He is going to try and motivate another round of treatment of Avastin. But will wait to hear what the surgeon says.

My cancer markers dropped again, so something is working. The last time my count was 12 or something.

Got placed on anti depressants as well. Urbanol is not cutting it anymore.

The biggest factor at this stage for it, is because I must stay off my feet. Even got recommended to use a wheelchair if possible. And I am not to walk barefooted.

I must let my hands rest, no pressure on my hands if possible. So no cutting things with a knife, no using a screw driver and things that can rip the skin off my hands.

I am no longer able to open my iPad wit my fingerprints, as I no longer have fingerprints.

But on the upside, my beard is growing like there is no tomorrow, but must go if I go for the operation. Not 100% sure why, but there must be a reason

I did a site inspection in Parys for a doctor who specializes in cancer treatment.

He work in conjunction with a lab in Greece that seperates the cancer from a drug sample and then bombards it with different compounds to isolate what would work for the specific patients cancer.

He mentioned compounds like ginger, tumeric, etc., all mostly natural type compounds. Does not believe in chemical treatments.

Just found it fascinating, the different approaches to this cancer problem.

He is what is known as a Naturopathic oncology specialist. The good once are few and rare to get. You get a load of crap in the cancer world. From people scamming patients looking for alternatives to people selling snake oil.

It is just like the CBD market... if you do not have the equipment to test the CBD oil, you never know what you are getting. Same with THC and weed in general. You have to trust the people you are getting the product from.

I am going to try a product from Stemtech that is suppose to activate stem cells. The oncologist looked very suspicious about the product when I asked him if I can use it.
