milky4130 Posted March 11, 2019 Share I doubt I’ll do this event again, since you allowed PPA to dictate if you can acknowledge podium finishers or not. All the best! milky4130 Posted March 11, 2019 Share Exactly what I said, they had no prize giving, not even acknowledging the top 3 of each distance if they didn’t have prize money or gifts, it was the very least they could do. When questioned why not, it was instructed to them by PPA to not do a prize giving as there were always discrepancies with results. Skubarra Posted March 12, 2019 Share I doubt I’ll do this event again, since you allowed PPA to dictate if you can acknowledge podium finishers or not. All the best!Good news for you then milky! Doesn't seem to be a PPA event this year. But it does seem to be an odd excuse from the organisers. Have seen many PPA events where winners are recognised. Fine Breede for instance you can win your weight in wine? I'm sure at such a small race those that come in the top 3 for their category would be satisfied with a handshake and a pic of themselves on the podium. Morning everyone. Please dont make statements if you do not have all the info. We were specifically instructed by the PPA to not give any prizes in the past. I also want to remind you what happened the previous year with some of the riders getting positions that were completely wrong because of a timing issue. Having said that we will this year change the status quo because the PPA will not be involved on the day. The long and medium races would have prize money for the first three finishers. The first three men and woman will get the same prize money in both the races.Milky we are really sorry that you feel this way but we tried to do everything by the book. You are still welcome to join us. Chingy182 Posted March 12, 2019 Share Done this race twice already and always a fun one. Apparently less sand to be expected this year Link to comment https://forum.bikehub.co.za/topic/181298-event-philadelphia-mtb/#findComment-3472143 Share on other sites
JEDLO Posted March 12, 2019 Share whats the route like? There is a bit of everything, single track, jeep track and farm road. There is two hills on the 85km and one on the 50km. The hill that both the 85km and 50km do, have a tricky decent. The 13km is a family event and kid friendly. Please refer to the route profiles attached and if you have any more questions, please feel free to ask. gemmerbal 1 Link to comment https://forum.bikehub.co.za/topic/181298-event-philadelphia-mtb/#findComment-3472192 Share on other sites
vulgar Posted March 12, 2019 Share Cool, keen to give it a go!! Organizer seems fair in comment. PLS pretty please and this is my beef with mtb events.PLEASE mark the route properly. Chalk arrows is not expensive. Mark direction before turn and in the turn and out the turn long sections of single track, take a color sticker , big square ones as route marker/checker on tree leaves bushes ens. for peace of mind "BOSS your still on the right track" NOT lost. There is nothing more frustrating than missing a turn or get to a junction and you cant find any distinct marker.... Lekker, lets see if ORG take note. matthieup and milky4130 2 Link to comment https://forum.bikehub.co.za/topic/181298-event-philadelphia-mtb/#findComment-3472477 Share on other sites

I was more curious as to what type of terrain to expect, but you provided some detail of that. not particularly in the mood for sand hence why I asked. im still thinking about it... dannygirl Posted March 12, 2019 Share The route seems to still follow quite a bit of the rivercourse, and this is the part that was very sandy - could the organisers possibly confirm? Also not in the mood for a slog through sand, but have supported this event in the past. I somehow always feel better about an event where the PPA IS involved - will racetec at least be doing the timing?
