I suppose that is the link from Discovery. All the Disocvery kit is supplid by ASG.

Also, a complete name change for the event, no longer called Cycle Challenge.

this always intrigues me. you build up a brand name over the years, what happened behind the scenes to bring about a name change.

40 km isn`t much of a challenge.

I wonder if you could enter both, ride the long route first and then the short route as a warm down.

edit: I've  not seen any mention of what route will be used for the short route.

The short route is on the new website...starts in Atholl Oaklands from 0930 and joins the M1 S and follows the longer route via Kyalami GP to the Riversands finish. Shuttle to take one back to the start.

Edit: perhaps some interesting riding on the M1 S as the two streams...merge?

ASG as the merch partner? Still waiting to see a forum singing their praises or indicating that they interact with the riding public......

Maybe that's why they don't reply, they have been so busy with this deal....

The shop in Olympus is building up nicely with Saturday club rides and a lot of rejuvenated effort is being put in.

$$$ is what happened.  These okes run a business not a bike race.

exactly why it intrigues me, most businesses want to establish a brand and stick with it when it becomes well known.

Ah, but this is Discovery that got into the act you know... If they can change something at least once a year they will then push to change it twice a year... before it gets a chance to be well known

With my normal start time I should be hitting Athol Oaklands just as the 40km groups start...Should be interesting.

As much as I love this event and will be lining up again this year (#10), I really do think that they need to reevaluate their entry fees. R540 for the full race and R440 (for the 40km) is starting to become a bit steep to some, especially considering "NO Goodie Bag" - yes I said it.

Compare the above to the Soweto Marathon, R300 and you get a Nike running top which alone is probably worth +/- R250

That said, glad that they have stuck with the reversed route.

Does ASG supplier the Bio-Racer brand? Team Vitality changed from iTech about 2 years ago.

Well a bike race is a business.

But this is only really a race for the full licence folk which gives it some flair/houding. For most though it's a timed mass participation event, more power to them.

40km route is a good idea imho, makes the event and cycling a bit more accessible to the masses.
