I do not think that was savage point.

Why are vaccinated people exempted from being tested? Being vaccinated reduces the severity of Covid symptoms, so you might be Covid positive, carrying and spreading the virus without even knowing it.

In my opinion, everyone should be tested to ensure all spreaders isolate themselves.

This has been discussed to death, but to repeat, don't see it as vaccinated people being exempted, see it as a requirement to be vaccinated and the test as a courtesy for those who are not. Testing 17K people to do a funride a massive waste of resources.

The mis-directing of this thread is so obvious. if you're anti-vaccinations, then bringing in your opinions overtly or directly will get it shut down. The only reason it's tolerate is because CTCT is pioneering holding mass events currently. They have had to make tough calls, and can't please all the people.

Just last night Squirrel announced that, just like the rest of the world, being unvaccinated is going to be inconvenient for you. Get with the program or go moan somewhere else.

There is of course a special case here for 18-35 people who could only get the jab in late august. that is over 6 weeks come race day so I'd be a bit peeved if i fell into this slot, especially if travelling from out of town, But a R250 test is not the end of the world and if you can see the big picture and the reasons behind it then you'd accept it as part of the deal.

Jeez, looks like it is Friday. ????

Not my intention to derail/miss direct the thread, was just an honest question. I am also not an anti vaxxer.

I am glad events are possible again, will gladly pay the testing money to be safe to race.

Anyway, enjoy the weekend and go ride your bike to blow off some steam.

I unfortunately fall in this group hence why I asked. But I suppose it's R250...that's cheaper than electricity

Does anyone perhaps know how the test will be done. Swab or pole up the nose?

I'm assuming a brain tickle is what they will use.

For convenience sake I'm going to get mine done up here on the thursday afternoon or friday. One less thing for me to worry about when I get to cape town.

On this whole test thing, Why in SA do they feel the need to put the nose swab all the way up into the back of your pupil almost? I've been following Ben Fosters Youtube Channel (CyclingGK) and he shows their tests done and the ladies literally put the swab into their nose no deeper than most people would put their finger. So whose doing it wrong, The Pro football clubs in Europe or the SA peeps??

they cant go to deep into the footballers nasal passage or the swab will get coated in residual coke and not give any results. :)

Not going down myself, so just curious: are they allowing 3rd party test results? I seem to remember the message being that if you cannot prove vaccination, your only other option is the Rapid Test at registration for a fixed fee of R250?

If they allow 3rd-party Rapid results, then you may be able to get it done at places for less than the R250, so definitely a good option if you can bring your own test results.

I did one in france and two in SA, no difference, felt like they scraped the back of my skull on each occasion. Maybe because there wasn't much in the way ????

It was in one of their communications, i think yesterday, they do allow 3rd party tests, as long as all the info they need appears on the test.

I think R250 is the going rate for these tests though. There is a rapid testing spot a few hundred metres from my office, so will pop in there. (although they are the same ones that gave me a false positive in June)

Yes 3rd party tests are allowed but will be scrutinized apparently before entry will be permitted. And you are correct, there are a number of places doing tests for less than R250 which is the route many people I know of are going.
