Pieter1 Posted July 23, 2020 Share The park is a joke with this to be honest. Try run or cycle through delta without bumping into an inconsiderate runner/dog walker/cyclist/child or combination thereof. I am not sure if people have less control of their kids or their dogs. Obviously there is a shortage of biodegradeable poop bags because no one has any to pick up their dog poop(even though there are free plastic bags at entrance) No your 2 year old should be playing in the fresh dirt on the jump lines, you don't need to walk your dog off lead especially if it bites. Big up yours to the dog owner who let their dog bite me the other day during my pb attempt) if you don't have control of your ****** little ankle snapper put it on a lead. seems like the increase in users has brought out the dumb onesJa the park is mal after about 2pm. Duane_Bosch Posted July 23, 2020 Share Oh, then the pandemic did you a whole lot of good, keeping you out of THAT "peloton" I really enjoyed it. It took me from absolutely nowhere to not completely useless. And when the gym opens I'll be back solving the water crisis with my sweat. But the shuffling has added a WHOOOOLE new level of intensity. DJR and DieselnDust
ChrisF Posted July 25, 2020 Share What virus ? What social distancing ? Seems a lot of people are "over" this, and getting on with their lives ..... Had to pick up something at Clicks .... WOW !! shopping centre is as busy as pre-covid .... Wimpy giving a flying fart to the rules, ALL tables being used ... Rest of the coffee shops doing business as usual, including the use of all their tables. Went to our local trail (which will remain nameless for now, afterall, my name is not Karen). The farm's restaurant is packed, probably double the allowed numbers. Getting to the cycling area ... it looked like a packed bazaar !!! We eventually found some parking about a 100m from the normal parking area. The kiddies track and coffee shop area was PACKED !! We gave that a miss, and headed straight into the trails. We were able to ride on our own, even though there were a LOT of bikes out on the trails. O-well, some good did come out of this .... as we stayed way clear of the kiddies track Maritz did two proper loops of the trails, clocking both his fastest average speed and his highest elevation to date. interesting times .... The Ouzo Posted July 29, 2020 Share Anyone here got the Ciovita sports mask? Is it really open at the bottom? yep. Has a sort of "spine" that runs from vertically from the nose to the chin, but from the chin to the jaw there is nothing keeping the material flush against your face, so it kind of hangs open. The top has a wire over the nose and cheek bones so it sits flush there. Looks a bit strange from the side, but makes breathing with specs on that little bit more comfortable. DJR and Andrew Steer

Was this PB attempt when the park was quiet or on a weekend? While I do agree that all dogs by law should be on a lead you also can't expect a public park to be a race track for PBs. Ja, I read that post thinking the PB bit was a bit, uhm, ja...but then I saw the bit about having to dodge kids and walkers, and runners, and other cyclists...ja okay then. But then I remembered he was bitten by a dog, and that makes you lose your s h1 t regardless, so I am going to leave it be. But in his defence, I can say the following after having been bitten by 2 dogs now, the last while out cycling as well. The next unleashed dog that attempts to bite me WILL die. Right there. I understand his anger and emotion. DieselnDust
WeekendWarrior80 Posted July 29, 2020 Share Really need to get my ass in gear when it comes to exercise these days. I think the last time my wife and I went out for a run, we were in level 4 lockdown, and we took turns with who went for a run as one of us had to stay at home to watch our daughter. Now with us both back at work and our daughter back at school, the only time we could out for a run is after work or on weekends, and then it's not the safest as the crime has spiked a tad in our area - I'm not so worried about myself but it's the Mrs I worry could be mugged or attacked if she went out alone for a run. This is why we don't walk our dogs anywhere near frequently visited areas where little yappers will be off leash. They tend to pick fights with the wrong dogs... one of mine will fight back and the other one will pitch in to finish the fight... They are always in harnesses with double leashes. The way it should be. As for riding through the yappers. Sunday I almost fell twice (at slow speeds) while navigating through a mess of small fluffy excuses for dogs. They simply ran in front of my wheel. Now heaven forbid you trample one of them. The owner will be on you like orange on a naartjie. I told the owners to leash their dogs and only got this blank glazed over look from them. Robbie Stewart and Vetplant

They are both such cool dogs at home. The older one still is when in public...he's that dog everyone can pet. We used to be able to take our dogs to restaurants...thats how well behaved and good tempered they were. But we had an incident at a park when the younger one was around a year old. A unleashed larger dog came over and basically bullied the dog into submission. He has become so fearful and anxious around other dogs since that...it has been an uphill struggle. Now it's a double whammy....I cant seem to resocialise or get him comfortable around other dogs at parks because every second dog is off leash and he basically wants to kill everything that gets too close now....and then those same people give you grief for bringing an "aggressive" dog to the park... sucks.
