To start off, some background.

My days are usually spent in back to back meetings and therefore my view is if you have an online presence it means you will service me through that channel no different to me walking into your store. Or that is my expectation working in an environment where we have a sunset principle when it comes to the customer.

After bad experience with Specialised I decided it is time to sell my Specialized and find something new.

Decided to give Santa Cruz a go and emailed 5 supposed sellers of Santa Cruz.

- 2 replied on the same day of which was Greg Minnaar cycles and another big bike shop.

- Other said big bike shop promised me a quote later the day.

- The actual quote only got to me 4 days later

- The rest, I am still waiting on a reply to my initial enquiry

On the same day the emails started with Tyron at Greg Minnaar cycles, back and forth on my questions, options to do the build, quote finalisation, etc. literally 20+ emails over the course of last week until I finally made the call to go ahead.

Bike was built on Friday / Saturday and boxed today to be shipped up to Gauteng.

At no point in time did I speak to them over the phone, except Saturday to thank Craig for the exceptional service and the fact that Tyron at no point in time ghosted my emails and facilitated the entire build and deal via email.

So Greg Minnaar Cycles, awesome service, great to deal with you guys and if my new bike is half as awesome as the serviced received I will be happy as can be!!

I fully concur. Had amazing service from GMC too, right from the start. Zero issues, and can't recommend them enough. Even whatsapp messages late at night, even though I don't expect any responses after 5. It helps that the bike is a stellar performer too lol.

I have nothing but praise for this bike shop, if ever a bike shop deserves to do well in these trying times it is GMC!

Craig and his team have stellar attitudes and the service they put out there is an example not only to other bike shops but to all retail outlets! Remembering the great service we got when one of our school boy MTB riders had his bike stolen and Craig and his team had no hesitation in lending him a Santa Cruz,at very short notice, set up and all, rider enabling him to compete in the race held at Cascades! They will always have our support! Bravo GMC!

Aaah nice.. They are nice guys, they did me one hell of a favour when my boys were smaller.. 2 big GM fans and I had bought a few shirts and caps (so not a big money sale) and asked if there was any way to maybe get a signature on a poster for the boys.. They ask if they could hold the order back until GM was back in the country and had him sign posters and popped it in the package for my boys.

Good to hear they are still going out of their way for people.

That’s my go to LBS even though they are nearly 300km away. They saved my bacon at Sani2c after a very expensive pre race, bike service with what was then rated the top store in the country, ended in bicycle first trail side repair at 500m roadhouse into the race. Since then I heave been a regular customer and converted many to make GMC my not so local local!!

Kudos to Craig and Tyrone and the entire team

Oh maybe Greg too ????

Yep can not agree more with the sentiments shared here, and honestly I would probably check with them first going forward for any cycle related items I want and happily pick up courier costs and wait a day or 2 longer purely based on the exceptional service,

Great to hear that good service exists. What was the lead time on getting a new Santa Cruz? I’ve been asking around a few local distributors for new bikes and getting bugger all response

They had a Tallboy 4 frame in stock and then built up the bike for me, so the lead time was just me making up my mind and puling the trigger.

GM just seems to be that kind of guy. I used to bump into him periodically at Holla, and my son (who is also a big fan) went to say hi on a few occasions. For someone who is essentially a superstar on the international stage, Greg is a heck of a down to earth guy.

Great, no excellent, to hear and hope Jeff is doing well; he did a great job when he sold me a bike and helped with repairs etc for years. Great family and would use them (must in future) if nearer (and could afford Santa Cruz).

Was my go to shop for spares. My only small gripe I ever had was that when they opened the new shop the one in town got neglected a bit. Is the town shop still running?

Bought two Specialized from the lads at GM over the years. I'm based down in Cape Town, originally from the Midlands. Compared to the service and attitude of some Specialized stores in the Cape it was an absolute pleasure to deal with Craig and the rest of the crew. Kudo's to them for continuing the good work

I should have probably bought my Specialized from them and then I would not have had such an issue that I decided to sell my Specialized now and go to a different brand.

Just before everyone jumps on this, I have no issue with the brand, just with a specific Specialized store and for that reason I will not support the brand again as I expect more.
