8 days to clock 500km

the problem is whats falls on those days.

25th - If I want to still be married by the time 2022 rolls around I will not be riding

26th - sweet, open to ride

27th - working, so can do a short ride in the morning - 27km

28th -  working, short ride in the morning - 27km

29th -  working, short ride in the morning - 27km

30th -  working, short ride in the morning - 27km

31st -   working, short ride in the morning - 27km

1st - Sweet open to ride. But a medium one as family commitments

5 x 27km = 135km

that leaves 365km over 2 rides. whilst not totally impossible to do, it will leave me rather broken for any further family activities.

Would of loved to have given it a go with us being down in the Wilderness.

Unfortunately, the dreaded Covid, has put pay to any high intensity bike rides for the rest of the year

So, what are the plans out there for rides to make up the 500km between Xmas eve and NYE?

500 laps of the walking track around Zoo lake. 😉

500 over 8 days is only 62.5 km a day.

Do 100 on the 24th and 26th and it drops to 50km a day. Easily enough done if you get ahead of the run-rate.

Edit:

Go everywhere by bike - to the shops, to visit you family, etc. Take a short detour there and on the way back and if you only do 10km like this a day, you can easily get a free 80km in.

Do your 2 100km rides and all you need is 37km a day.

In Cape Town/Western Cape there is a good chance you will loose 1 or 2 days due to weather.  🤔 …… so the average just went up drastically. I managed it last year. The secret is to start with some big rides and get well ahead. That just gives margin for weather or family commitments.

Will likely do same as last year. get it done as fast as possible

over 3/4 days.

270+43+186+22

Good training for grit, audax etc etc etc etc.

Last year the majority of km’s were done on Zwift. The coco cadence bunch was huge during this time. Felt a bit like cheating though…

40 km/h at 2.4 W/Kg in the coco bunch… Not nearly as hard as riding all 500km outdoors, or even worse, on a mtb (the real festive 500 😜)

Mmmm that sounds like a challenge to me ... how about all the k's single speed rigid MTB anyone?

This is what I need to do - I failed last year by not staying above the average daily requirement
