Wins for Pogačar yesterday and Remco today was according to expectations.

Tomorrow is a different beast IMHO.

I'm thinking breakaway to sneak the win on this parcours.

Woods, Mohoric and Campenaerts are way too big engines to end in the last 20 places today without it being intentional. They saved their legs and created a gap to Yellow to be allowed to go stage hunting.

Thinking the same.

Anyone else noticed that all the Visma riders except for Affini, Jonas and Jorgenson took it extremely easy on the TT yesterday, an unofficial rest day for the team.

Well it actually looked like Jonas was also taking it easy if you compare this effort to the one he did a couple of weeks back. I know that is not the case as he would not intentionally lose time. But I expect a full un assault in the final week. Wout, Yates, Benoot and Kuss all is either taking it really easy or not yet at their best.

Will Campenaerts be allowed to go for glory or is he mainly there to help fight for the GC.

Fair point, Campenaerts might be on babysitting duty.

But, I still think many guys went easy yesterday in preparation for an assault today. It could be one mighty battle for the Break and we might end up with a 20-30man break.

Will be fun to follow from the start

It does give off hints of another Netflix Special in the making but I believe that series was discontinued. So maybe just for their own YouTube Channel then 🤔

Being beaten does not translate to taking it easy, Tadej had an off colour TT last time  out and also visibly looked a bit out of it on the day if memory serves - yesterday - he upped his game .

Just checking is the tour still 21 stages or does it now end in the first week after stage 5 🫣🤭😝🤷🏼‍♂️

I'm really hoping the final script is not already written because that will make for an extremely boring tour. My brain is saying it is but my heart is hoping for a lot more from Visma.

I'd love to see a good fight in the mountains. My feeling/theory with Jonas is that he always seems to finish grand tours quite well. eg: every time there are two time trials in tour, he does much better in the second one. I don't think he's the best rider (that is obviously Pogacar) but he does seem to recover very well and has few bad days. I remember Laurent Fignon writing that he wasn't the best one day racer, but after 2 weeks of hard riding, he was always in better condition that everyone else when the final week arrived. The same was said of Greg Lemond.

So as long as he keeps the time gap small, there's always the chance he catches Pogacar on a bad day in the mountains.

But Pogacar is just insane. He beat the best cobbled/classics riders in spring, and then beats the best climbers and (almost beats) the best time trialers in summer.

I couldn't agree more Nick, they're dealing with a freak of nature that's absolutely on top of his game right now. I'm not so sure one bad day in the mountains is going to be enough, they might need a week of bad days considering how loaded UAE is with support climbers.
Worst of all, it's hard not to like Taddy, the kid just loves racing his bike. It's not like you want him to lose, you just want him to lose by a lot smaller margin 😅

Pogacar is just on another level, but one tend to root for the underdog. It would be great if they have a massive fight for yellow in the third week. I think Visma has a plan for that 3rd week and will try a double assault with Jorgensen like they did with Roglic and Jonas in the past.

From what I read it seems like yesterday was a bad day for Jonas and he just did not have the legs, I would rather have the bad day yesterday than a bad day in the mountains. Stages 12 and 13 will be decisive and if the gaps is still below two minutes after that the final week will be interesting.

Marc Hirschi, Benoot, Campanaerts, Woods and Mohoric all rode the ITT at over 41 minutes yesterday.

You would think today's stage suits them, tomorrow too. So they must see something in it to have been so 'off the gas' yesterday while the big GC boys went toe to toe
