Digging deep, hauling in the TT world champion and his 2 minute man, the Dane finds himself over 4 mins away from the Golden Fleece.
And the fight for the 3rd podium step is also very intriguing.
Tomorrow’s another mountain stage.

Massive effort with the mushroom head.

Must really be wondering if there is any hope of catching the freak in yellow.

Alaphilippe sure did look animated crossing the line today… link

ETA: total beast to finish the way he did after dislocating his shoulder in the early crash 😮 😮 😮 I’ve dislocated my shoulder before and the pain was unbearable even after it was relocated.

Just watched today’s stage……Seeing is believing but tbh it’s simply UNBELIEVABLE

I find it extremely hard to understand how 1 rider can consistently be so much better than everyone else

Rest day remarks:

Week 3 looms.

Complacency or surrender may be tempting, however, be assured that the fight for yellow will be on into Stage 21. The battle for 3rd promises to be very intriguing too. Can Roglič and/or Lipowitz play the right cards and ensure a handy podium spot?
The breakaway artists will be also be eyeing daily opportunities to light up their sponsors’ logos in the final week with a V sign. Go, Ben!

£4,700 fine and a yellow card for hitting a spectator while following the breakaway for Ineos sports director. She was looking the race on her phone, standing in the road.
And Remco is recovering and resting his season with one eye on the World Champs and defending his TT rainbow jersey.

”I’ve had two bad days and normally I don’t have any bad days… I have to attack and have no other choice… if I stop believing, nothing can happen… I’m willing to sacrifice the 2nd place in order to get the 1st place…” ~ Jonas Vingegaard

Don't think Visma will allow it, but how epic would it be if Wout could replicate his Mont Ventoux win from 2021...

Unfortunately for everyone: I can't see anyone but Pogacar winning this stage, unless they let the Breakaway go early and loooong to build up a sufficient advantage.

UAE will be forced to pace if they want Pogacar to take the Stage.

Or I can be completely wrong on all fronts and Vingegaard smashes the climb and rides into Yellow. 😈

Does anyone know whether Matt Beers gave Rob’s wife’s phone back? They seem desperate and these ads must cost them a fortune(r)!

Mute button on my remote is getting a workout between that awful Prado ad, Cecil Nurse and that financial services lot

That and wout is now fairly useless. He got pipped to the line by a guy with a popped shoulder...

Seems we have our big breakaway and they have a decent gap. This stage might be up for the taking.

Ben Healy for the win?

That would be great to see. He's a favorite in my household, I'm sure he is in most. In the front group Arensman and Mas are probably the best climbers, although Mas has been pretty lousy in this tour. If the break were to succeed I guess you'd have to bet on Arensman.

But with visma running out of chances I think they will be going quite hard from the bottom - Will 6 minutes be enough on a 1hr long climb?

Visma HAVE TO push, they cannot sit on their hands. They gapped Pogacar on Mont Ventoux the last time they were there... you never know if his body reacts unexpectedly after a Rest Day.

BUT, I expect it to be ineffective unfortunately.

Arensman is probably the best chance of a stage win After Pogacar as the cards sit currently.
