...after last Monday's WET/WET/WET commute - this one was DRY - AND beautiful - the Moon had set early, leaving inky/black sky, temps were good, and cars were few...!

Always surprised at the the sheer NUMBER of MyCity buses between Hout Bay and Bakoven - counted 10 on that short stretch of road came past me, from front & rear combined! Great service!

Took the Swing Bridge route through the Waterfront today - and came across a newish 'light sculpture' - very impressive changing its colours in the early morning darkness!

Snapped a pic of bike at the Mocca/Zeitz/SILO hotel, whilst adjusting my rear light - nice old industrial steel on display - lekker!

Finally, the golden glow seen over the Durbanville Hills is indeed getting earlier - Summer IS s-l-o-w-l-y on its way!

Not often there's a picture of me on a bike 🤪 .... a really lekker ride from Alberhoughton to Parys yesterday, a last minute decision to join but well worth it!

A lot more comfy and enjoyable with the Lefty and wider tyres compared to my previous time on that route with the rigid and gravel tires I must say 😀

A 'quick' spin up @Pikey 's favourite climb (Biggarsberg) here in the south of Jozi, pretty chuffed with myself as it was the first time since 'the incidents' a while back and then a bit later a jockey implosion 🫩

Ever tried to remove and fit a return spring? Making do with something out the parts bin means I had to ....

🌍 Rwanda 2025 UCI Road World Champs – Travel Buddy Wanted 🇷🇼🚴‍♂️

Hey cycling community!

I’m heading to the 2025 UCI Road World Championships in Rwanda this September and I’m looking for a travel buddy to join me for the trip.

This is a historic edition — first time the Worlds are held in Africa — and I’m super keen to take in the full experience: elite racing, electric crowds and Rwandan cycling culture!

👥 Why I need a travel partner?
My parents have agreed to send me on the trip (shoutout to them 🙌), but they’ve asked that I don’t travel alone — so I’m looking for someone who’s just as excited about this trip and down to share the experience.

🗓️ Trip Details:
    •    Flying out: Tuesday 23rd or Wednesday 24thSeptember
    •    Returning: Monday 29th or Tuesday 30th September
    •    Staying in: Airbnb (already found a few good ones!)
    •    Cost: Flights individually paid for and we’ll then split the Airbnb and any shared local costs
    •    Taking my bike: Yes! Planning to ride and explore a bit between race days

✅ About me:
    •    I’m 21 years old and deeply passionate about cycling — road racing, the culture and the whole experience
    •    Easygoing, organised and always up for a lekker adventure
    •    Hoping to do some riding while there (not training camp intensity, just vibes and exploring)
    •    Keen to see both the road racing and a bit of Rwanda outside the event bubble

👀 Looking for someone who’s:
    •    Also planning to attend or seriously considering it
    •    Reliable, respectful and easy to get along with
    •    Ideally from a cycling racing background 
    •    Down to share minimal costs and the experience fairly
    •    Bonus if you ride too, but not essential

Cycled to the trailhead to get there at dawn- which in winter is a bit chilly. But the day turned out perfect, with the 2mm of overnight rain having cleaned off all the dust from the vegetation. Not pictured are the wallabies I encountered on the trails.
