I think times are getting tough even in first world nations though. The cycle paths by the river are becoming a homeless shanty town in places - that just reminds me of the Spruit. ChrisF Posted November 26, 2023 Share 300m from home I saw a friend out on his road bike .... also heading out on Bottelary .... cold legs ... on the rev limiter .... At the foot of Helshoogte I was sipping on my gummy-berry-juice when a young rider on a road bike past me ... No problem, as soon as the climb kicks in I will pass ... NOPE This young rider was motoring up Hellshoogte !! I had PB's in every segment chasing the rider .... only just managed to get to the top at the same time ... RESPECT !!! The tree lined scene past Pniel will never get old. Absolutely thee best weather in Franschhoek. CLEAR air .... the views .... The pass is open for vehicles (not trucks). Couple of stop-go sections - This one is just past the top of the pass - Going to be a big project to properly repair and protect this pass from future storms. The closest I've done to cycling in greece was as a youngster with my cousins cruising around the village on bicycles close to where these pics are taken.
