Try ordering a Cortado in Spain where I'm told it comes from. Eventually I gave up and just asked for Cafe con Lecce (coffee and milk)

On of our commuters is from China .... he says that when you go to a local Chinese takeaway you see the western menu, the Chinese patrons get served the Chinese menu. ...

I have noticed that, and the fact that the prices differ  ^_^

Nope, everyone drinks Cortados.

Some drink black coffee.

And if you want to order black coffee, you have to aparently ask for an americano.

and then you get asked if you want milk?

it's a vicious caffeinated circle...(Coffee flavored doughnut?)

If its name consists of more than one word, then by Jeeves, I will not order it!

OK, sorry, two words may sometimes be needed........DOUBLE ESPRESSO for example.

so coffee flavoured milkshake then?

No, it's the strongest milk based coffe you get. Stronger than a cappucino, stronger than a flat white. 60ml espresso (double shot), 60ml milk. That's a very strong flavour.
