Popped out last night on my mate's bike to get some goodies in Berea - and pump up her bike's tyres - and came across this oldie pulling up...

On the way home, I stopped and saw these. Don't know who will be losing seats, but the bike's would be hard to lose.

Despite the wind yesterday, some things have to be done. There were motorbikes in my usual riding area in Stutt so I had to make alternative arrangements for a ride. Took the 22km uphill to Gubu Dam, a favourite trout fishing spot, in the 40 to 65kmph headwinds yesterday. Then to my short lived relief took off to the left into the mountain, where the steep hills started biting. Mt Kempf is a 1450m peak in the Amatola's, and the ride from the Kubusie river at 810m is a long drag of a climb, but the views were worth the ride

Gubu is a special place for me. Have a love hate relationship with fishing that place!

I really need to come join you sometime for a ride up there, such an amazing area if you know the trails.

Been riding here forever, and still finding new roads to ride. I'll organise a ride from Gubu or Stutt Country club via Funtrax

Loving the changes and new additions being planned and done at Thaba Trails! Samuel and Prince looking superb even with my limited talent ...

This pic from the new 'zig zags' being prepared by the power lines.

On Friday, got a last minute call to partake in the Icas Corporate MTB Challenge at Modderfontein.

Vary fast 30km, lots of fun.

And got rewarded with this afterwards.

Saturday saw me having the worst time possible at VG, but riding with some great peeps made up for the mechanical issues.

Yesterday, The Cradle track, on a borrowed Carbon FS with gears....man alive. How exhilarating, the speed... the comfort...but I felt like I was cheating on my bike the whole trip.

no pics.. too much fast flowing fun.

On Saturday I rode 32km at True Grit MTB Park in an event called the "Cape Ethic", an event for the Unashamedly Ethical organisation. 856m climbing in 32km. It rained hard the day before so plenty of slippery mud and rock. No falls on the day for me so I was quite happy.

I have no pics of the ride :(  but they have a lekker coffee shop and how are those urinals??

On Sunday morning I took the On One (With gears this time - the white rear wheel, the SS setup is on the matching green wheel at home) our for a ride at Conters, after neglecting the bike for some time and also just not getting any weekend rides in as of late.

Fitness is not good!

The trails were really just flipping awesome. The powder has been washed away or bedded down nicely, there are many sections where the top soil has been either washed away, or blown away and this has exposed a fair number of smaller rocks (some of them sharp) and it just made the trail a bit more fun.

Was amazingballs to see the number of S-Werks bikes out on the trail .... it is like they were on a 70% off sale or something!

The On One Summer Season is really a great bike, a fact that is re-enforced every time I ride the bike I end up with a mother big smile on my face and laughing / chuckling down the trail .....but I have to face the truth, the bike is a little on the small side for me and the frame will have to be replaced with another when the opportunity presents itself.

How much climbing was there in it BTW - looked pretty serious.

This is a bucket list ride for me...

I really don't have a clue, I 'm pretty sure there wasn't a single bike with a computer on. The 140 km is a serious route for fit guys. The 50 km is an easy one that most unfit people can complete. The 90 km is a great fun route for the modestly fit. If you ask most people what their riding time was, I guess you'll get a blank stare because nobody checked. :)
