Not really.

I am willing to bet that the vast number of users on the platform are real world cyclists.

Not in a condescending way, well done and congratulations on setting up the Cycling club.

I did a search for the club, and all links take it back to your online sales profile as the base platform. So the club is a means to advertise your business?

It was a natural progression. With the shop came the community and with the community came a club

I wouldn't recommend starting a cycling club as a means to advertise, its way too much time and sacrifice

I did it because I loved it

Are you still on crutches ?

Only emotional ones🤪

in seriousness though, judging by how rehab is going…it will be a few months before i can get on a bike again.

i thought it was obvious that I have more time to be praating more k@k on here recently? It’s the FOMO you see…

Using my own track record, periods of non riding due to injury goes like this:

1. increased forum activity to compensate for the lack of bicycle related social interaction.

2. building / buying a new bike / bike stuff because i have too much time to justify N+1 in my head.

im trying really hard not to buy more bike stuff this time. I already failed to some extent, but buying niche, expensive, bike specific tools mean i can tell myself i’ll save money in 10 years time by not having to take it to a LBS. But no, I also enjoy working on my bikes…so I see it as an investment in myself.

see how I justified it? Im sn expert👀

Outrageous ads get linked and called out in the forum section all the time anyways.?!🤷🏼‍♂️🤣 I guess it’s just for the LoLs then..

Something like this: https://bikehub.co.za/classifieds/item/hardtail-mountain-bike-frames/600965/titanium-mtb-frame-fork

Saw this ad for the first time pre-COVID and the price has remained the same since the first time it was listed

I go through the same but add ...

3. Stripping bikes and having them painted despite there being nothing wrong with the current design or aesthetics

ADMIN

Can one add a section on the splash page where you set up an advert that allows you to select "Not for sale to resellers"?

For that to work properly it would require admin to convert several users to dealer accounts. And admin is clearly not interested in doing that. Past reports ignored.

To be fair, it's advertised in the "Frames" category so getting the wheel is a plus.

Oh I wasn’t paying attention to that.  🤣🤣 still funny

I would hardly describe the forums as being toxic. Seems like people confuse someone disagreeing with them as being toxic.

I think it depends on the manner in which that person expresses their argument against yours whether it would be toxic or not..

but what is the definition of toxic in this instance.? It’s just a word we’ve adopted to situations places or people that make us feel uncomfortable.. shem..

From a new person, it's more that every single thread gets dominated by the same 6 people who inevitably make it about themselves.

The OP tends to either get forgotten while the hierarchy chatters OR said hierarchy assumes OP is basically them but not them because Noob and sells them something they didn't ask for.

So the first few posts usually have 'some' insight but it gets lost in amongst the useless chatter of those who make it about themselves almost every single time.

It is the definition of the internet, so no use getting upset about it. There is no smallest violin playing here, but it does make a lot of Noobs not want to engage.

oh I agree there are a few that have developed a rapport with each other that spans across multiple threads.. however that's never stopped me from getting involved. hahaha
