I rode Jonkershoek on Saturday. First time ever I encountered drizzle that made no difference to the powdery dust.

also, this year I "trained" for the cycle tour by doing mock enduro rides at Jonkers. I figured if I'm ready for the enduro on 16 March then the tour will be a walk in the park.

We always park in the city closer to the start than the finish, but anywhere between the two is good.

I survived a 90km ride after some physio on Friday. ITB seems to be on the mend.

Newbies and late arrivals in CT, be aware that the route has become even rougher and potentially more dangerous then ever. The short descent after the Black Marlin looks as if small mortars have been exploding on it and there are quite a few other areas where the tar is very poor and just uncomfortable to ride, especially at speed on descents.

At some point the City is going to have to start investing in public roads, especially the tour route which is a tourist drive as well, instead of wasting money resurfacing the barely used highways of Constantia for the 0.5% .

Officially no, and the last group starts before 9h00 so even for Elites it would be a stretch to get back from the finish to the start in time before the last group leaves.

Sure there are some rogue riders who do it unofficially and enter the route somewhere else (trickier than you might imagine), just remember to take off your timing chip as to not get recorded attempting the route again.

I prefer the CTICC Parking.

 

Actually a very nice vibe here, as it is mostly cyclists starting and ending their day here.

 

Then again, we make a day out of the event.  Spend a few hours after the ride with friends taking in the tourist vibe in the Cape.  (interesting experience for a local)

 

Thus I prefer knowing my car is safe inside while the hours tick away.

 

Very close to the start, and mostly downhill from the finish.
