This appears to be the event the lady is referring to (it costs exactly R8325):

https://ultramtb.co.za/cape-ultra-cederberg-edition/

Seems it was not cancelled but moved to April. If you keep moving it at the last minute eventually nobody can attend and you technically have not cancelled it.

Based on the number of typos, this is not a list of T&C's I would trust:

Fyre race or what.?!

I have said what I can about this sorry excuse for a non-man.

I trust he will have to account for his willful scamming of people in this life or the hereafter.

Sorry for those who have suffered a loss due to this pathetic parasite on society.

Indeed. He is merely storing up wrath.

Taun Bewsher (UltraMtb and Mountain Merchant- see Instagram) I entered the Cederberg ultraMtb last minute. Initially spoke to Mike Walters ( I now suspect he same guy because he has disappeared, Taun says he doesn't work there anymore!)The night before event I was told there had been a fire of the logistics and support team business premises and was too late to get replacement caterers and back up vehicle (long mail with sad details of fire and vehicle damage etc). Was offered new date April which I can't make. Still waiting for other dates that he promised. Then I started asking for refund which was promised no problem, repeatedly. This been going in for weeks, then last week received fraudulent pop. Which has instigated a fraud case at the bank as well as police case opened. This afternoon I video called him because he sent me a long mail with promises to pay back the money end march. Wanting me to sign stuff. I asked about all the details of fire, names  of other riders, other dates April ride I don't believe exists. I asked about the Epic because I saw he is supposedly riding to raise funds for Springboks playersfund for injured rugby players, he said they have got wind if his past and withdrawn his complimentary Epic entry because don't want to be associated with him.

He now sending me threatening mails and WhatsApps if I don't remove Facebook posts. I have assured him when my money reflects I will do so. All feels a bit surreal! Any suggestions how to stop this happening again to other riders will be appreciated. I have contacted everyone that liked any of his Facebook posts to inform them. I haven't found anyone yet who was scammed for the Feb Cederberg event, yes was R8325 . I think I got off lightly!

Sorry for your loss. Best be to get a lawyer on your side and understand the m.o:

No big reputation for you to ruin by posting the truth and/or if others have gone down the same road. Just be sure that the person in question is reading this thread.

Surely other event organisers should ban someone bringing so much disrepute to the industry.

I deleted my response because I don't feel like dealing with legal letters

Slight correction, Wood Fetcher is the accepted pseudonym.

I snipped a massive reply. Just know that individuals and multiple forum owners have had personal run-ins with this pest.

Sorry to hear this story.

He has done this multiple times before, so I don't there is an event happening. I doubt he even visited any of the routes, and the accomodation listed are probably none the wiser.

Clearly his bad name is getting out though if his epic entry got pulled, surprised to hear how honest he was about that.

I doubt the epic entry was even legit. It was probably used to gain trust or realism (q: is that "@" capeepic tag even real? Any bofs out there to check it out?

And, does the epic even hand out free entries? If they do I bet they have a pretty big criteria to fill before dishing out a freebie

Just tell him it’s harassment and he has NO grounds to be making threats. There’s a litany of online info about his charades as Taun Bewsher. In particular from Mike Bolhuis Investigations - https://www.facebook.com/share/1AHo61V5P6/?mibextid=wwXIfr

Dont send him a note to say stop harrasing me. Do the right thing and get a harrasment case against him. I'd head down to a female friendly cop shop and get a case drawn up which will really upset the apple cart and trip up the other litigation cases against him, of which one can be your fraud case

I was also wondering about the "free entry", because I would like one.

There are charities that get entries for free from the organisers, think the agreement of people who use those entries is that they must raise at least the amount of the entry fee in donations for the charity.
