And a bunch of other also injured in that.

one of the gents killed has the same name as a mate, who was also cycling in the area this morning.

gave me a bit of a scare, but he is physically ok. His group was about an hour behind this one.

So so mad 😠

To my understanding Gauteng road champs will be taking place next weekend and the route passes just 1 or 2k down that road ... In fact I saw quite a few riders preparing there this morning

Chatted to one of the team managers I know well and he told me about the incident and that he was quite shaken, his comment was 'cycling here in the South is an extreme sport'!

He stopped there just after it happened and he told me he saw the 2 murderers sitting visibly intoxicated on the side of the road ... the wrecked vehicle looked like quite some speed was involved 🤬

I better add 'allegedly' before I get in some trouble I suppose

There were 5 guys in the car and all were intoxicated. 3 of them were hurt and taken to hospital. I know because we had family at the scene as one of cyclists was a cousin of mine 😢

This makes me feel like not riding my bike.. People only stop riding when its a friend or family member.
The big issue isnt really our roads that is unsafe but the lawlessness we have in this country.  Drunk drivers and people going way over the speed limit is mostly the cause.

A girl riding for cycle nation made an instagram story saying how grateful she is for having a following vehicle after todays accident. A following vehicle is probably the safest thing to have - that or a Radar is the only solution I can think of.
