I have the weirdest scenario I have ever experienced.

Let me paint the picture: I receive a bike with a set of SLX M666 brake levers in perfect working condition, almost new.

    1) I decide to remove them from said bike and add them to a more appropriate build, due to it being internally routed I have to cut the hose.

    2) Caliper is fitted with a Banjo and not a olive and ferral like some. No problem, I have some after market banjos that fit onto the hose by means of a locknut - I have used it in the past without any issues

    3) I make the change and proceed to bleed the brake. Nothing, nada, niks. The brake remains flat.

I then open the lever and inspect for leaks, in good condition.

I swop the lever with another one which also works and is in great condition - nothing, nada, niks.

I swop the caliper, nothing, nada, niks

I then swop the hose with a factory hose and fit a olive and ferral at the lever side, nothing, nada, niks.

I then swop the lever back, nothing, nada, niks

    I am completely stumped

The piston inside the lever is dirty and or swollen... You've got time I'm sure...

Strip the lever to the bone, use a light sand paper to clear it up...

I did a thread on it a couple of years ago...

  2. DHL is not cheap

Seeing how many has come onto this thread waiting for the boa's makes one think

    - are these boa's of inferior quality that so many needs replacement

    - have we totally abused the system, that forced them to look at cheaper option as such now using cheaper shipping methods

Lost a bike due to bike jacking. My bike went into Langa Area. Never saw it or an advert trying to sell it. I'm convinced there is guys stripping the bike for parts and chopping up the frames. Especially high end. The frames is the most recognisable item. 90% of the parts are sold on.
maybe a few bikes,10-20% are sent across borders to family members.
Heard scary stories of how delivery scooters are stripped into parts and packaged and sent to Malawi and Zim.

this is my theory too... there's a huge chain for stolen goods not just bikes...

not restricted or limited in the order below, but here's my view

    - the guys that steal or rob does the deed (R200-2000)

    - this then moves to a drug/reward point (R2000-5000)

    - at the drug/reward these guys are well connected, and as such have various "chains" for which category of stolen goods go where... in our case bikes (R2000-10000)

    - this is where the bike then goes to an "expert"  in moist cases as Cappi's post the bikes are stripped and the frames are sold for chips on/in the street... the parts are filtered through and sold in the 2nd hand market, my guess a huge number of them are sold here on bikehub (R+)

I've had 2 bikes taken out of my stable, one was at the Die Burger stolen off the rack many many moons ago, the other i was robbed. the both followed a similar pattern. The one bike we got back, with zero help from the SAPS... except we bought them back. The other i chased until before my bike moved into the 3rd point on my list... at this stage it got ugly (if anyone knows anything about cowboy and ghetto town in hanover park), i backed off and got a payout from the insurance.

I wonder if Pogi might have some sort of illness or some problem. Not looking for excuses but his face just hasn’t been what it normally is and this going back before the time trial. There was one stage where he cant follow Rodriguez on the descent and doesn’t get the win which is very unlike Pogi. The next day Yates sets a super hard tempo and maybe he was bluffing but his face just looked terrible and to finish it off, Jonas ends the stage next to him and almost gives him that look after he couldn’t drop him. Then the TT, he gets destroyed by Jonas. And today he was just completely ******. Maybe his lack of preparation because of the injury is catching up on him or perhaps hes picked up some sort of illness.

not Jonas just being better (prepared physically and mentally) and having a stronger team collectively ?

i think it was mentioned earlier, JV made the call in Dec last year they'll stay on the TT bike. This shows you that for Jonas and the team it was all about winning the TDF.

Pogacar has had an amazing season before his crash, winning some of the classics and then still to be 2nd at TDF.

I(MO) just think Jonas is better and such in yellow

I'm not sure why UAE or Colnago have to prove anything to anyone with the bike change strategy. Taddy was faster than everyone else... except Vinny, that proves enough already.

He just got beaten by a better rider on the day, it happens, pretty often in the Pro peleton.

    +1

Suddenly Mr ChrisHorner changed his mind, Jonas is now his No1 in the world .... 🤣

He reckon Primoz should change teams asap.  I tend to agree, but would not be nice seeing him riding for another team.

BUT, wouldn't it be awesome to see a proper 3 way race next year .... ?

3 proper likable guys in 3 different teams... no it can't be... life is hard enough as it is
