  1. Tristan is only 24, barely out of U23! He's doing far better than I expected. I suggest Luke because they train together a lot the past year. and Luke has done well against Mat in races they have competed against each other. But, non Spaz, ...so.....
  2. My Spaz doesn’t have a motor, exhaust or valves that bounce, but occasionally the rider can generate a loud stomach rumble or f… if required
  3. I got really good service from Spaz on a helmet replacement. If I was you I will go for spaz again as POC good be more of an effort to replace
  4. Is it shorter than the Spaz Power saddle?
  5. Spaz. After getting all parties involved, everyone VERY accommodating and sorted me out with a deal on something of the correct size and upgrade. I am still a happy customer and very happy with the XL. Reach was fine on the L, inseam was the issue. Long legs, short arms...
  6. This bike has featured in the Gravity section under long travel hard tails already, but may as well put it here. Frame is a Large pearl white bought thanks to Flowta putting me on to a fire sale that lasted about a day at On One. Only received the frame 3 weeks ago and had to wait for a headset to arrive after that. Build is based on my old 26er enduro parts so a 160mm Pike, Flow 26" wheels with serious rubber, SLX cranks/XT mech/SLx brakes/Saint shifter/Giant dropper/Funn bars and rear hub/Spaz seat/35mm stem/Nukeprrof headset Bike is very easy to ride fast downhill and there are no pedal strike issues with the 26" wheels. BB is about 320mm and it corners and turns like a boss. Only downside is my legs take strain being the rear suspension on bumpy trails.
  7. Personal preference. Both bikes are designed for that type of race. Anyone thay says one is better than the other is talking rubbish - they are both excellent bikes and it comes down to which one suits you better. My choice would be the Spaz Epic because it can hold 2 water bottles and some spares in the main frame, take a full size dropper post (or for that matter a third bottle on a rigid seatpost), it has a threaded bb instead of the press fit on the Cannondale, and I like the brain suspension system and am not a fan of Lefty forks. But like I said - comes down to preference.
  8. I'm on his IG feed now. um no lift selfies yet, but beer drinking selfies in moz lots of those, especially for a lightweight and looks like new roadbike. but there's not a speck of spaz in sight - all assos/sidi/rudy/fuji
  9. BOOM we have spaz reply within an hour!!!! unbalivvvvvvalbie
  10. One would swear the spaz boys spent the winter holidays at the crackondale design office and modeled the new 2018 spaz off the sharp as a scalpel scalpel! just taking a dig at spaz here
  11. So far mine is holding up very nicely. I actually prefer it to the Spaz options because of width. I've had Power saddles in 143mm (too narrow), and in 155mm (too wide) - so the Ryder option at 148mm is just right.
  12. We met one of your Tokai locals (on a flipping nice Intense with bloody spaz tyres on) who made a visit to Hoogies this morning and it looked like he enjoyed the Cobra blue route ... I know I did.
  13. unfortunately in this case, dealing with Parks is not the same as dealing with Cape Nature. Add to that that Spaz have come in BIG TIME with the Jonkers site (amongst others) and there's a massive difference in operational efficiency. Solely down to that one factor, dealing with Parks. (fwiw, former TokaiMTB secretary & committee member, and big driver of volunteer build days when I was there)
  14. so we know the same guy ..... and his riding buddy is on a spaz stumpy?
  15. One thing I must give Spaz credit for. Their new (2019 onwards) warranty is awesome. All roval wheels are covered by a lifetime warranty, the frames too. If you sell the frame the second owner takes over warranty for (I think) two or three years from date of purchase by the origional owner.
  16. Honestly, R80k for the cheapest bike in the range. And here I almost started to think Spaz was maybe not so elitist anymore. It's good looking, but I really can't see you justifying that kind of money on a bike. Unless you are like Richey Rich - rich.
  17. I use quick dry shorts, so I got some Boardies with pockets/walk shorts in boardie material. They work really well. I tend to ride in any shirt, it doesn't bug me. My work shirt, golf shirt, whatever. Pointless dirtying something new when one is going in the wash anyway. But I think Trail Tech has some 3/4 sleeve 'endurobro' shirts going at reasonable prices. The only way you 'look like that' is by throwing shapes and ripping. Dressing up in all the kit while not being able to manual properly or smash all the jumps/drops is just lame.... The shorts are important as cotton gets heavy and formless and ill fitting when wet. The only other thing is a helmet with a removable chin bar.... Or a lightweight chin bar lid. The rest is all just as lame as the guys who dress up in tight matching spaz kit to push 150 watts and walk the chicken lines.........
  18. Sorry, I had them confused with Factor. Those Chapter2 bikes from NZ do look cool.... bro.... My apologies. Although my sentiment still stands. I'm sure you could build the Spaz up lighter too. Either way the bike would still make no sense and would be a pure cock joust cafe ride Mamil transporter......
  19. Isn't Chapter a catalogue bike? I get what you are saying, but weight isn't the only metric that makes this bike 'cool'. One thing Spaz do very well is R and D. So their bikes work. Love to hate them, but they have bikes for all price points, most avenues of riding and pretty much all of them flex where they are meant to and don't where they are not supposed to. One could definitely build a lighter bike. That Cannondale Alu frame built up at around 6kg with all the right bits. Ride quality is also important, especially when you are paying so much. I would choose this over a catalogue bike any day of the week. It has literally been designed from the ground up so that the cafe racers and social group riders can brag about their bike. This bike makes no sense! It isn't aero, it isn't race legal. It is purely an ego booster/superbike for a mamil. That is why it pains me to admit that I want one, despite knowing that it will just highlight the lack of schlong in my bibshorts and make me feel like a hero while I climb one of Cape Town many fake hills slowly... But feeling like a hero nonetheless.
  20. Why would it be 'faster' than, say, an 80mm or 100mm Spaz Epic? The Epic would give you better comfort over the corrugation as well as traction and the ability to put down power while sitting on said corrugation. Gearing aside, why is a hardtail faster than a bike that offers you comfort = less fatigue and the ability to put even power? I'm genuinely curious. Since moving from a stable of hardtails to a 100mm full suss I can't believe how less fatigued I am.
  21. That's a system that to me seems underdeveloped - surely with all the dropper tech and new suspension knowledge a 1 inch travel suspension seat post that's still light is possible?! Or is something like Spaz and Canyon's flex carbon seat post the way to go and makes the above unnecessary?
  22. some guys need to go watch some Sam Pilgrim - "free bike" videos on youtube lol. Here we are discussing wether or not you need to buy a yellow or red ferrari and hes doing backflips and downhill on some 90s hardtail POS spaz he picked up next to a dumpster for free (hence freebike), put some fox40's on it for giggles and just rides it because its scary and fun lol. yes yes i know...skillz part1: part fox 40: here he's going doing bikepark crazyness on a "makro special" haha
  23. Is Scott here? Thought it was just the Spaz team at the moment...
  24. Range between $7 400 & $13 100 Similar price to the Spaz Turbo Levo (Between $6 950 & $12 075) The Turbo Levo SL Founders Edition is $16 525 - a whole different game!
  25. Ah but you know, you wouldn't get a proper work out on that thing... Now this new Spaz has a motor but still gives you a work out - imagine that. Its like a normal bike. What an innovation. Maybe things will go full circle eventually. I'd rather have a more powerful eBike - for the same effort you can go even faster uphill. Why sell yourself short just to get a bike that looks like a real bike?
