The public's response to them is the joke. Over here there are lines on the floor to queue for anything and people follow them religiously. The lockdown is being eased based on Reff number. The system works. You can only blame government so much for the lockdown - the population needs to take some responsibiity. Exactly that approach is being used here in Denmark. Either way - I actually responded thinking this was the corona thread. Capacity now outstrips demand with more than enough functional trains available 24 hours a day. Also, they run on time 100% of the time. (I mean they stand still 100% of the time, which make staying on time a little easier.) There is suddenly no need to torch more trains to bring it all to a standstill because that has been achieved already. All positive stuff! My dad was the general manager of Metro Rail Cape Town for 2 years before he retired. I'm so happy that he's not around to see the mess. He worked for the railways his entire adult life. He was so proud of the Metro service in his day.
