To be fair the measures are completely sane and rational. The public's response to them is the joke.

Over here there are lines on the floor to queue for anything and people follow them religiously. The lockdown is being eased based on Reff number. The system works.

You can only blame government so much for the lockdown - the population needs to take some responsibiity. All lockdowns the world over would not be necessary if populations were responsible.

when you have more trains out of service than in, have not placed an order for refurbishment of trains in over a year and a half and then expect people to social distancing on already overcrowded trains... NO PRASA is the joke..

Let's also be real RE the supposed loss of income in CT.

PRASA have been so useless in CT that the bloody trains were not running anyway, so how can the claim for a loss of income due to COVID if this did not make a difference to the income earned in CT

You'll get no argument from me there but that doesn't make using every second seat a sane and rational approach to reducing the spread of the disease.

Exactly that approach is being used here in Denmark.

Either way - I actually responded thinking this was the corona thread. To apologise for the cross threading here is a funny corona meme :-)

For the first time in more than a decade the Metrorail train service in Cape Town is functioning as per the grand design they have been working towards so diligently. Capacity now outstrips demand with more than enough functional trains available 24 hours a day. Also, they run on time 100% of the time. (I mean they stand still 100% of the time, which make staying on time a little easier.) There is suddenly no need to torch more trains to bring it all to a standstill because that has been achieved already. All positive stuff!

My dad was the general manager of Metro Rail Cape Town for 2 years before he retired. I'm so happy that he's not around to see the mess.

He worked for the railways his entire adult life. He was so proud of the Metro service in his day. Only for the Zuma's to raid his pension fund to pay for Dudu's fkups and the rail service to be sabotaged and looted from the outside and from within.
