Let us know how they perform, I hate sticking safety-pins through expensive tops

Certainly hoping for better luck than Mamil.

Very possible my next chance to use it will be at CTCT2023 .... the normal MTB events we do use boards on the bars.

Hopefully you'll remember where you stored them. 🙈

Wanted to change the look of my bike and then this RS1 fell into my lap 😊 120mm travel (don't think I would go shorter) . I was really surprised how great this fork feels on the trails.

little bit of engineering work done because I did not want odd hubs or be tied down to a specific fork/hub.

PS. It needs some custom decals.

Looks great. What engineering work did you do for it to fit your Hope Hub? I agree this was a major drawback of the RS1 for me.

Once again, not strictly a cycling related purchase, but some here may be looking to purchase for cycling related purposes...

Recently acquired a Ricoh Theta Z1, to accompany the Insta360 OneX2 purchased late last year.

Ricoh Theta Z1 51GB vs Insta360 One X2
Ricoh Theta Z1 (left), and Intsa360 OneX2 (right)

These cameras are competitors and excel in different areas, so the choice of weapon is largely up to the use case.

As an action camera, the Insta360 is probably the better bet with more weatherproof casing, on-board touch screen and superior video performance over the Ricoh. Plus it's half the cost and smaller.

So why even go for the Ricoh...

Image quality in poor lighting and better image stitching in my use case. As previously mentioned I use these cameras for progress capture and issue tracking on some of our construction sites. They are mounted to a hardhat, and are coupled with a smart software platform that stitches passive capture to create a virtual walk-through, automatically aligned to floorplans, previous captures, and 3D (BIM) models (nerdy nonsense).

Side-by-side comparison of captures with each camera. Note the better image quality from the Ricoh (right) and the stitching misalignment on the Insta360 (left).

Site progress capture side-by-side with architect's 3D model (the space is will be a pathology lab).

So after 8 years on my trusted Scalpel that enjoyed many an upgrade during that time. Probably could have bought another two with the money spent. I was given a no brainer trade in at my LBS on the purchase of this beauty.

Switched over my crank and power meter, the Spez Saddle and the Riser Bars and boy she is a super machine. As comfy as can be, with very different handling.

Have subsequently change the rubber to something that rolls a little quicker and easier for the longer flatter rides.

I have never ridden the RS1 but what was it like compared to a Fox or so? I always thought it looked great and hence should work great. But didn't seem to stick around long

Pricey but I've always liked them. Not really lighter compared to other for options, and if removing the wheel it can be a pain to put it back because the stanchions tend to move.
That said. Good steering and really good low frequency performance over chatter sections/braking bumps like corrugated roads or rooty trails.
Given it's aesthetics, an 80mm iteration would mate perfectly with a gravel bike imho.

I haven't ridden one either, but I think the initial 20k price tag, plus a wheel rebuild onto a SRAM hub, already put a lot of people off.

Thanks, appreciate that. I also didn't know they were 80mm. Alittle aggressive for a XC course and maybe even Epic unless you a small and light person.

But do agree on the gravel type vibe.

I have to admit I am so far removed from some cycling things hearing this is a 20k fork. Jirree.

Also not exactly bike related... But very convenient for bike missions! (The tt bike is still worth more than the car lol)

But to have you bike cost more than yours car is the correct way to do it no? Why spend money on something you use to essentially go to work in or drive to a riding spot? I would rather spend more on my toys than a car. Bikes and toys being fun, expensive cars are pointless when you pay so much that you cant afford toys or do dodgey **** so you can afford them.

Cheers. Ja they have three travel options. 80mm/100mm/120mm

Did a mock installation on a Titan Switch and Trek Checkpoint a while back, looked beaut.
