It's also a lot easier to spot any anomaly vs trying to spot which anomaly is legal and the best anomaly while cross referencing said findings with 'the best PEDS' on a timeline. (Because as we know, these change often).

Kamila Valieva says hi.

Well, you can.

is your head that far in the sand that you think this young (admittedly brilliant athlete) is the only one doped to the gills at WO22?

this head is very much out of the sand as far as doping of minors is concerned. Its been rife in gymnastics, Rugby, swimming, any sport where child prodigies can be exploited. Hence I've never enjoyed watching kids in professional sport, they should be in school not taking "vitamins" to make them more flexible....

99% of peds, administered under proper supervision have almost zero side effects. To suggest criminal sanction is laughable.

however placing a minor in a position whereby their future well being, mental health, and ability to live a fully integrated life could be criminal....but then nearly every person living beow the breadline would be guilty as charged.

Influencing a minor to commit sporting fraud may not be criminal but it should carry a lifetime ban from sport. In countries like France it could very well be criminal.

Even that is hard to enforce. Look at Lance

Some PEDs already have legal limits - hematocrit is at 50% and that hasn't stopped people getting popped for it.

Making all PEDs legal then relying on the morality of doctors to administer the right amounts makes no sense. We already know the morality of some doctors is more flexible than chewing gum - all that will happen is that people will start getting popped for exceeding the "healthy limits". The goal posts will move and nothing will change (except for more kids being told taking PEDs is ok).

Who in their right minds thinks giving PEDs to kids is OK? Fark.

Hematocrit is not PED but simply the volume of red blood cells. Some are naturally higher and some lower which is why the lower ones up theirs to the limit.

Of course but you take the PEDs to get the level. Or sleep in Kolobnevs special hotel rooms.

You guys are like dogs trying to have sex with a football, let me help:

No if's and buts...simple Yes or No:

Does she come from a country with a tainted history of allowing doping amongst their Olympic athletes?

Does she have a history of coronary artery disease?

Did she test positive for trimetazidine which is used to treat coronary artery disease, and a banned substance?

Is it legal in sports (Olympics)?

They teach them young, should ban the whole bladdy lot of them, not just her

The access gap already exists.

I'm not sure what you mean by more difficult to regulate, when the ped issue is currently 100% unregulated. Any control would be better than the free for all that exists now.

I'd rather have the current access gap wrt infrastructure and training, than add a more complex one.

I have really tried, but I just can't picture a world where kids taking PEDS legally is a good one

Me neither.

Sleeping in the hotel is perfectly legal, same as born at altitude in Colombia.

Of course it is but sleeping in a hotel in Spain every night when you're racing all over Europe is a bit of a logistics problem...

Earlier someone posted about rather identifying future dopers....I second that but I also believe if you are caught doping you're out for life. I'd like to see CSA/WADA (the SA version) publish a list, by sport and updated monthly of ALL athletes who have been tested and Pass/Fail. I'm curious how YdV got caught and seems to do so well without doping...now (I think she recently thrashed Yolanda Neff? here in SA) and in these "obscure" far-out-in-the-sticks races comes close to the men's top 10. If she's THAT good, why did she see the reason to dope?

appeasing Vlad. it's a farce. you can't make this up in a million years

Precisely.  The Court of Arbitration for Sport and several administrations have twisted stupidity into new forms of idiot origami.

Simple and succinct from Global Athlete:  “Today is another example of the failures of the global sport and antidoping system.  The fact that Kamila Valieva, a 15-year-old Russian figure skater, has been found to have a performance enhancing substance in her system is evidence of abuse of a minor.  Sport should be protecting its athletes, not damaging them."

Not enough focus on the systematic programmes in place. What about the doctors, coaches, administrators etc?

SAIDS are the local organisation, they’re at most events. And they do actually have a published list online of doping cases, which has been referenced numerous times on this thread. You can see the offence, the sanction of there is and download the entire pdf of the hearing case files.

Technically the substance she was caught for was a masking agent not performance enhancing so there is actually no proof that she used performance enhancing drugs. Also she is banned from the Epic which I assume limits her opportunities to ride in pro teams that do high profile events (not that I'm sure the Attakwas would really qualify as an "obscure" far out in the sticks event)
