His inputs on the old Hub were fascinating.

I was in school with Shawn, from primary school right up to matric (same class). He was an age-group BMX world champ too, and not only on the track.

All round nice guy, but as we know, no-one's perfect, and we choose to do the things we do.

Yes there is a list of the offenders but how about a list of all those who have been tested and the outcome? There are so many old "warhorses" being ex pros from years gone by involved in management at races and cycling events that after seeing what USPS orchestrated and how they used their influence, some skullduggery here in our back yard would not surprise me. Just like in F1 the FIA did not make public exactly WHAT Ferrari were doing? Why? To supposedly protect the sport....

I have NO sympathy for any doper, whether knowing, unknowing, willing or unwilling. From Owen Hannie to Lance Armstrong -  I was a huge LA fan but after being duped I have nothing but contempt for them and consider doping a criminal act for which they should be charged and receive a record....but that's just me.

you are going to get a heart attack, relax

Finally, the last thing I'll say to the people who don't believe in cycling, the cynics and the sceptics: I'm sorry for you. I'm sorry that you can't dream big. I'm sorry you don't believe in miracles.

Anti doping events: SwartBerg100 GF, j2c, sani2c, Berg n Bush, 3 Towers.

Not so anti doping: Freedom MTB Race.

So j2c and pe2plett and K Evans did both.... David George does wines2whales....Epic also allowing convicted dopers to ride? Whats the point of having these rules when the organisers and race refs allow these okes to ride... many others slip through with little notice....

Sadly the sport is a mess from the federation to organisers. To the "professionals" to the schools league where kids get sold a dream of being the next Hatherley or stander if they do well in it... with no infrastructure to organically take these juniors to elite no varsity leagues just a champs and no club level racing or intermediate level for the step up to the u.s.a or Europe...

So kids and parents start trolling sites looking for a wonder drug they can get a prescription for or OTC... micardis comes to mind (same mechanism of action as a aicar and a gw50156 and totally legal, or the famous disprin during a tt to take the edge off more placebo but works. What about taking some muscle relaxants and ibuprofen during a race thats legal and common practice amongst pros. I knew a guy who had 2 via viagras a day while racing elites....)

Doping is not clear cut. You have a system and the sad part is it filled with loopholes cracks and miss information... you have a congestion take some decongestant thats green on the list makes you feel great so that athlete Continues to use it as he can now breathe easier... ends up moving to the next step how to push his limits more pain blockers.... next phase of his evolution strength or blood boosting or weight cutting (just hypothetical)

I see Jared Graves has retired, and will work as performance coach for the Yeti team.

I have mixed feelings about this guy. Great career, sullied by a doping scandal just before he stepped away to fight cancer, making the doping furore the least of his worries. Lest we forget that he also became the fall guy, allowing Richie Rude to get off lightly  with a slap of the wrists.

It's like a roller coaster of highs and lows.

Not all anti doping cases correlate into intent and scale though.

If he didn't have to fight the cancer battle as well, I would have called BS, but for some reason I have some grace for him. No one needs all that at once in their lives.

But TBH, have no hope for anyone relying on SA's supplement industry too.

I remember a story from the RECM Team days that they used sponsored supplements that was made seperately from that brand's (I can't remember who the sponsor was) other supps to prevent cross contamination.

i tuned into the webinar on this for a bit. seemed to be mainly on rugby/atheltics, and how he had got into steroids himself!  At the end he mentioned cycling, locally. seems like he might have had some access/chats with David george. could be interesting
